writerAZ reacted to else in Knee Tattoooo
Here's mine (slurped off of Steve Byrne's instagram)
The knee was way less painful than I expected it to be... there were a couple spots that really made me wince but otherwise it was pretty easy.

writerAZ reacted to slayer9019 in what do you think of Blacklight Tattoos?
I think its against my motto for getting tattooed and that would be "more black."

Did you get killed on a submarine?

writerAZ reacted to Delicious in Ink Masters
I am not a tattooer, but I agree with @Brock Varty! Any tattoos I saw done by Nunez were... ok. Nothing special. Then I see a Rubendall tattoo and I think, there is no way these two men are at the same level.

I think Tony Nilsson at Blue Arms Tattoo here in Oslo needs to be in this thread

I believe the dude on the left is Jason Ochoa. I worked that Sunday night at the bar and a dude was there with a Elm St. tattoo patch and we got talking and he said his name was Jason and he was doing a little spot over at Greenpoint Tattoo, which got us talking about the DeVita event -- and that he and Thom shared the same dragon back piece. Incredible! And a nice dude.

writerAZ reacted to Hands On in TLC's Tattoo School is the biggest tattoo tragedy EVER!
yep. that about sums it up.
as i was flipping thru the guide, i saw it. reluctantly pressed enter and watched about 15 seconds of the show. abruptly turned off the TV, went on a short rant to my wife about how horrible it is, then put on some music and drew. shoulda been doing that in the first place.

writerAZ reacted to Dennis in Flash sets, bitches
I've got an Aaron Bell flash set. Awesome art, it's too bad framing is so costly. I have a substantial amount of art waiting to be framed!

Rubendall is starting my back on Tuesday. I'm a little nervous to be honest! Also I spat out so many different ideas and elements during the consultation that I have no idea what the final product even looks like yet.

writerAZ got a reaction from Zillah in Full Back Piece Thread
After 14 sessions spanning 15 months, I'm thrilled to say that my back piece--courtesy of Jay Cavna--is finished. It's a rooster/boar/snake battle royale with peonies. We just wrapped it up a few hours ago. I couldn't be happier with it and am blown away by Jay's skill and commitment to his work.
Here's the pic.

writerAZ reacted to Brock Varty in Politics and tattooing in Japan .
This.
Japan is home of an incredibly powerful and beautiful tattoo art tradition. I find it strange that a culture with such a rich history of tattoo art does not embrace it.

That's very interesting, I wonder if they will ever embrace their tattoo tradition. It's the most beautiful. style of tattooing there is IMO.

writerAZ reacted to CABS in Shaking Hands Design
To my understanding, the handshake is about brotherhood, loyalty, honesty, camaraderie, friendship, etc. I could be wrong.
The hand with the letter is a Dear John design. It's signifies a big break up. Usually people get that tattooed after they've been dumped. Or so I'm told. I wouldn't want that tattooed on me though. I don't need a reminder on my skin that I just got dumped.

writerAZ reacted to MGblues in Tattoo Culture Magazine
God I hope this magazine goes to paper. I love having something tangible. That's why I still buy books and CD's. Besides, trying to read this on an iPhone even thru bifocals is an exercise in futility.

^^^^
What David said. I have a Missus, but I still ended up doing the aftercare myself. It's no biggie. The infernal itching on the other hand...

writerAZ reacted to reverend1 in Do you go for lots of work by the same artist, or one piece per artist?
I plan on just having one artist tattoo me. I have an overall idea of what I want, and I want to be cohesive and flow together. I think one artist is the way to go in my case.

writerAZ reacted to Hogrider in Do you go for lots of work by the same artist, or one piece per artist?
For me, I like my artists work, I think he kills the Japanese style, he's close by and I trust him. I don't really feel the need to go to someone else at this point. If I wanted something in a style that I didn't think he would do well, I'd go to somebody else, but for now, I'm sticking with him.
We're actually planning a Tibetan skull, with background, to wrap around the middle of my back to under my nipple; from my pants waist to a few inches under my armpit. We're still working out the details, but it should be cool.
