There's already enough tattoos that look like they were done by 9 year olds. 🙄

Session #3 done, I'm really happy with how things are shaping up!
Looks like one more session to add in a few more fine details, and then fill in a bit of background/border.  I still need to come up with something for the background, I think something relatively simple so it doesn't detract from the main subjects is probably best (any ideas or suggestions would be awesome too).

As you might remember my story about almost 2 years ago and I want to thank you guys again for how much you've been uplifting me with your honesty and your words.
This post tattoo anxiety seems a very common thing. It hit me as well even though I was planning on getting a big one for many years.
Many people have contacted me and having those feelings seems to be a very common thing, there seems to be the same pattern that people are going through. It looks to me that nowadays people want to have a solution for everything immediately if they don't feel comfortable with something. People don't know how to be patient anymore and get rid of something if they don't like it. People compare themselves way too much with others as it's what social media does with many people's minds.
There are quite a few reasons that I could write about regarding post tattoo anxiety and I was thinking about posting my experience here as so many people have been reaching out to me and I can see there seems to be a common psychological process (I just don't really have the time to write things down in detail)
Anyway:  I can assure to everyone with this anxiety: YOU WILL GET OVER  IT  and live will go on. It might take some time but you will get there. Don't be hard on yourself and even if right now you're having panic attacks (which is a horrible feeling), it'll get less and you'll come to love your tattoo. It's a change you've done to your body and now your mind needs some time to adjust. Don't forget that you love tattoos and why you love them because this is hopefully the reason why you decided to get them.

Tomo time this weekend. Damage report to follow.  Keep my crack in your prayers, its time for what I assume will be the most uncomfortable part of this back.

Posting up some pics of where you're currently at would surely help everyone see what you're describing.

Also, don't show the artist the tattoo on Pinterest. Just tell the artist (if he is good enough to do hands well) what you have in mind, and let them give it a go.

Right. And hands are tough to draw/execute - so make sure in advance that your artist has some previous examples to show off.

Hey guys, I've just seen this tattoo design that I really like and think that it looks good. I am thinking of getting it on one of my tricep areas. But before that, I want to find out what meaning it has. Nothing comes up on google when I try to search for it, although I've seen many variations of it around the internet so I'm pretty sure it probably has a meaning. So before I get it tatted I thought I would try to find out if anyone knows of it's meaning or symbolism (or whether it is offensive).
I know some of us are going to be all like 'oh you should only get tattoos that mean something' but nothing has really resonated with me so far throughout my life and I mainly pick based on design honestly. So let me know your thoughts!

This was your first tattoo? A head tat? Fn GNARLY dude go big or go home lol I wouldn't let the fact its not perfectly symmetrical bother you, still looks good.  Majority of tats aren't perfect.

I'm no doctor/psychiatrist, but I've seen/heard of similar feelings/emotions from friends and family members that had to endure a physical change (physical alteration due to cancer treatment, or a significant accident/injury).  They've said the first few weeks they felt like it wasn't themselves anymore, or felt anxious/worried about the change similar to the comments posted here.  They all within a few weeks became accepting, and not concerned with the passage of time.
Maybe it's forcing us to examine ourselves existentially, which isn't always something we're comfortable doing?  🙂

Just musing, but it's an interesting topic for sure.

My first tattoo was super fun, if not perfect. Both the tattoo artist and I missed a spot at the top left hand corner of the tattoo (the stencil didn't transfer fully), and I'm not sure it's entirely symmetrical or on straight, but I'm neither symmetrical nor straight so I guess it works.

    This is it fresh:

    And 48h after!

IMO you have to do what it takes with what you have to work with if you want to stay in the business.
If you have to start where this new shop wants you to then I would do it,apprenticeship offers  don't come along all the time.

Finished with Mike and finally got to posting it.  Super stoked on how it came out and how easy it was to get lines and shading in one session and color the next.

Looks nice. Kind of ballsy getting your lower arm tattooed at 18. Not every industry is tattoo friendly.
