  1. Paul O'Rourke, AllStar Tattoo in Limerick... Little filler next Friday. Loving his recent colour stuff.

Paul really has been putting some great work out recently. Also all star are fucking killing it with the guests right now. It's like a who's who of the tattoo world over there at the moment

  2. Nice one buddy!! I am in with Valerie on Monday - I'll say hi if our appointments overlap!

Absolutely mate, although am i right in thinking Valerie (and Stewart) doesn't work in the 'main' shop anymore? It's probably been 8 or 9 months since i was last there but i thought they were working out of a room above the shop.

In any case, definitely say hello if you're around, always good to meet someone from LST. My appointment is at 3.

P.S. You're a lucky one getting work by Valerie, one day i'll get there!

  3. I've definitely got post convention blues! It was my first ever convention so it was a lot to take in all in one day. How did it compare to other years, for those of you that have been before?

I couldn't believe how busy it was.

I'm looking forward to next year already! I had an appointment with Paul Dobleman on the Saturday and I really can't say enough great things about him not just that he is obviously super talented but how great he was throughout my whole appointment. He hadn't stopped all day but he really didn't let it show he was friendly and chatty for the whole time even though he had barely had time to stop and eat.

Hats off to all of the fantastic tattooers and people behind the scenes that made it so great, I can't believe how hard everyone works. It really made it an amazing experience.

This was my 3rd London convention, last 2 times i went on Saturday but this year was Sunday and it seemed very very busy. I had a quick chat with Ross Nagle when he was in between tattoos and he said it was a lot busier this year than he'd seen it before!

  4. Haha, nice one. My leg, wallet and team all took a bit of a battering this weekend. It was a real pleasure meeting you as well, Gareth. The tattoo from Jack took the best part of 5 hours. I watched for a big part of that. It was amazing seeing it come to life. @Jade1959 has got quite a fat arm at the moment, but I'm sure she will post a picture when it's nicely healed.

Very much looking forward to seeing the finished article, it looked beautiful from what i could see - not that you would expect any less from a man of such talent!

I can safely say i'll be spending a good amount of time with my nose in the books looking for backpiece inspiration this evening, the urge is very strong after being around all those incredible tattoos yesterday.

  5. No tattoos for me this year (not for the want of trying!) but i did manage to get to the convention on Sunday and have a good look around. Also had the pleasure of meeting @jade1955 who despite his choice in football team is a thoroughly nice bloke :P. Thanks for taking the time to have a chat with me, Roger, it was a real pleasure to meet you and a privilege to watch a master at work on your wife!

  6. Had a bit of a hiatus but i'm now (hopefully) booked in with Frank Carter for some time in August/September.

Edit: I'm also fighting a strong urge to email Samuele Briganti about an appointment for the london convention. Must.... think.... of.... bank..... balance....

Double edit: Just found out he's fully booked. Guess the bank balance can breathe a sigh of relief... for now

After admiring her work on a friend (@tacitapproval), I really wanted a piece by Mina Aoki at Fun City, NYC. She did this Lady Head for me yesterday, and I'm very happy with it; it's my first full-color tattoo, my first piece of American traditional work, and my first time at Fun City. I'm sure I'll be back for more. I'll post healed pics in a few weeks.

I fucking love Mina's girl heads (well, all her work but girl heads in particular). If she ever comes to England i'm moving mountains to get something from her.

  8. Haha cheers! Yeah I absolutely love Franks work - that snake you got is beautiful. I will definitely get something more off him, maybe next year. I'm in with Valerie in a few weeks, I love going to Frith Street!

He's definitely got huge talent and what a nice guy too (his wife is lovely as well). I saw his band a few months after he tattooed me and he refused to let me pay for the merch i was buying, which i thought was a gesture he really didn't have to make.

I love frith street too - my bank balance isn't so fond of the place but what else am i gonna spend my money on, heating bills and food?!

  9. @scott @Eilin is spot on about the Japanese restaurant. It's called Koya and its across the street from FST. I've only managed to get to eat there once and it was very good.

Its quite small and its not unusual to see a queue waiting for a seat. Most of the restaurants in China Town aren't up to much. I've been in Gourmet Burger Kitchen (about three doors away from FST) a couple of times. They serve a good burger. The only thing is that if you have an early appointment theres not much to choose from. The Breakfast Club is also supposed to be good, although I can't vouch for that. You'll also get a very nice bacon & brioche roll at a pub called the Spice of Life. Thats next door to the Palace Theatre in Shaftesbury Ave a 5 minute walk from the shop.

And here's me ducking in to Nando's for a takeaway burger all the time. I guess that's because i usually drive to London and have little time to get anything done before i head to the shop, not enough time to look around!

Got my appointment with Mario next week so maybe i'll be a bit more brave with my dining choice!
