  2. I'll be traveling to London in a couple of weeks to get tattooed by Valerie. I missed her during her guest spot in NYC, and I'm just stubbornly determined to get the pieces we talked about. I'm really pumped for the tattoos, but kinda freaking out about the trip in general. It'll be my first time traveling on my own and my first time in Europe. I've traveled for tattoos, but never this far. Seasoned trekkers: any tips? Also, if anyone's got suggestion for things to see/do/eat, I'd love to hear it!

  3. Was supposed to have my next session on Christmas Eve-we got halfway down there and had to turn back around, the snow and ice were just too much. I'd felt like such a wuss, but they ended up w/a bad storm so I guess I was glad we went back home. But on the way home I called and called and the line was busy--so when I finally got thru to cancel, I said I understood how hard it is to get in to see my artist, and I would just take whatever I could. The guy says "Well, I actually just got off the phone w/someone cancelling for next Sunday-you want it?" Uh-YES! So, we trekked back down yesterday. He ended up adding some stuff to the right side top and bottom, where I thought we were done, more waves and such, added some wind to that side too, and whatever, I'll deal w/it if it means it will be an even better piece. Hurt like a bitch this time. Not sure if it's b/c it was such a big area this time, or b/c of what time of the month it is..guys you don't care but girls you understand.

  4. I finished my backpiece on December 30th ! Then I did a victory lap and had my tattooer/life-coach cap my wrist off with a magic dragon. It ended up on my hand with the beard on the knuckle whoops! Turned out awesome !! Healing is a total bitch, haven't bent my wrist since last Wednesday and my hand is really raw. I'll post a less cryptic pic in the future...my arm now is all Steve Batt 2003 / 2007 / 2015 yipee really cool to see a timeline from the same tattooer blended one into the other.

    What do you use?

Is it me, but after reading all the differing opinions on aftercare of a new tattoo, it seems like it doesn't matter what you do except to just keep it clean and wash it everyday? Some say use this ointment or that ointment, this lotion or that lotion, and some profess nothing at all and just dry heal. Seems like if you aren't a total idiot about it, the tattoo is going to heal over time if you just keep it clean? So many conflicting views and opinions on the subject.

    Hello from Norway/Canada

Hey. Figured I might just make an account here after a bit of lurking. I got my first tattoo 13 months ago and got 8 professional tattoos since that time, with more planned. After getting into tattoos, I've really enjoyed reading and learning about the history of tattooing, especially after I found out that my great grandfather got tattooed when he was a ship captain between 1910-1925. So I ended up here after watching a bunch of the LST interviews... I'm born and raised in Norway, but I currently live in Vancouver BC where I work for a major sportswear company.

    Hello!

Hello! Finally decided to register and make a first post after lurking here for at least a couple years now. :) I'm a lawyer by day and tattoo lover by night. Also, cats. :D I got my first tattoo on my 18th birthday, and never looked back. Here are my two most recent tattoos: The cat matryoshka was done at last year's Minneapolis Tattoo Expo by Shawn Patton. The photo was taken immediately after completion. The next two are of my space cats. These are cartoons of my four fur-children. Of course, prior to finishing the piece, our family expanded to add another cat and a dog. Good thing there's space on my forearm. That was done by Dan Dittmer. One photo is after my second to last sitting, and the other is after the last sitting. Finished this about 6 months ago. No formal healed pics yet. I have some other random stuff, but probably nothing else worth posting pictures of. I'll be at the Minneapolis Tattoo Expo this coming weekend possibly looking for something to fill some blank space on my upper outer arm. :D Given my occupation in particular, getting any potentially visible tattoo is a fairly large commitment. I'm more or less restricted to always wearing long sleeves at the office, although on quiet days, I can get away with partially-sheer sleeves, or 3/4 length sleeves. I know for me, deciding to get a half-sleeve marked the point in time where I decided I was going to be a tattooed person rather than a person with tattoos. I'm curious if others - particularly other tattooed women - had this experience - that of knowing that they were committing to being a "tattooed person." Thanks all!

    Happy to have joined!!!

I'm loving this site!! I found while doing a search on the use of Tegaderm & tattoos....I just got tattoos #14 & #15 done on Sunday and my guy used Tegaderm wich I haven't had used on me after getting a tattoo...the thread on here helped a lot and I ended up ordering a roll of Saniderm for future use for me and my husband. Anyway quick info about me..I've been getting tattooed since I was 18 (back in 1993) and got work done here & there over the years I haven't gotten anything since 2007 wich was my oldest sons name and just recently added my younger sons name & a few more tattoos that I wanted over the years just never got. I'm definitely not one that gets just anything all mine have planned out......wich in the next few months I plan on getting started on my sleeve!! I'll be adding pics once I get more familiar with the site!!~Wendy

Hello and welcome! Yes, we always like tattoo pictures here. :) I'm a firm believer in Sani/Tegaderm use when during a multi-session piece I switched from the old ointment method to Saniderm and enjoyed a huge difference in comfort, healing time, and overall ease. It protects the tattoo from outside infection sources while healing from the inside. After a few hours, I remove the wrap from the artist and use Saniderm, then replace it 12-16 hours later with a new wrap for the following 5 days.

@SStu I'm planning to walk everywhere, so your advice is spot on. And packing light is my mantra - if it doesn't fit in my backpack, it's not coming with. Thanks for throwing some wisdom my way!
