  1. My first session with Theo was great! We got the basic outline done of a full mermaid that runs down my left leg from my hip to my knee. We'll finish it up somewhere, sometime this year (maybe at Pagoda). I'll post a photo when I'm all healed up. Spider Murphys is a magical place.

  4. @Ciel It depends on the artist. My artist only stenciled a little bit of my outlines and freehanded the rest. The artist will probably have the stencil ready and you probably won't have to pay for the time he's spent drawing it up. If the artist is freehanding the outlines he'll probably charge you for it. As far as stenciling for each session, that depends on a lot of factors, such as: size, subject matter, amount of detail, how long you're able to sit, etc. You might only need to stencil for the first session, if you want a more simple and smaller back piece. If you want a traditional Japanese back piece, it will span for your neck to the back of your knees, and you might have to stencil for multiple sessions. Hope this helps you.

  5. Looks great! Welcome to the forum - it's been quite a few years but I had my heart stolen by Vienna, too. Of course, with the last name of Volk, my favorite stop was at the Volksoper.

  6. yep. it's not worth the free touch-up. just pay a better artist to fix it. they also might be able to give some suggestions on how to make it look better.

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

Long time no see ? Got a little one yesterday after a few months' tattoo break (well not counting a smallish walk-in-day thingy from December) I'm totally hyped about! Going back to the insanely talented and super nice Mr. Romeo next month for some more work on that arm, AND getting something else done by one of the other guys at the studio on the other one at the same time. Should be quite interesting Edit: photo pinched from my tattooer's instagram

  8. So this wasn't a "latest tattoo" but it was a recent experience in a tattoo shop.... Last night, I was fortunate enough to attend a very informal, intimate get-together in Shanghai Kate's backyard. Kate had Lyle Tuttle and Jacci Gresham spending the day with her. It was absolutely unreal to sit and chat with these folks. As someone who is very into the history of tattooing, it was like stepping into a time machine.

  9. Certainly doable (cover or re-work) given the right artist. Send us a link to whomever you are considering. There are dozens of excellent blackwork and/or illustrative artists in the UK.

  10. You need to talk to your artist and tell him/her your concerns.

  11. relax,it looks great, and when it's fully healed in 6 months take a look at it and see if it needs any touchups, for now, enjoy it,wear it with pride and move on to the next tattoo idea and inspiration. you have great skin for tattooing,so be thankful for that and make sure you triple check your research on the next artist you choose.

    Upcoming Tattoos

So some updates on my upcoming tattoos: I walked into the local shop I've been wanting to check out tonight and tried to get a walk in, but unfortunately the guy I wanted to get tattooed by had to be somewhere tonight and didn't have time. But the good news is I have an appointment for tomorrow and I picked this awesome Cap Coleman dragon design. The guy doing the tattoo is Wes Garvick, who is on the short list of local artists I really want something by. Love his no nonsense, heavy black style. His Instagram is all black and gray for some reason, but you can find some color examples on the shop website: https://www.instagram.com/whiterosetattooparlour/?hl=en I also did end up booking with Topper in April. He's going to be doing a really vintage and classy lady liberty design for me.
