Firstly, listen to your artist.  They may have not done anything like this, but I assume that they've done plenty of other tattoos and know what will work.  I can see that not holding up well over time.  Also I doubt there would be much you could not later to touch it up or cover it.
If it were me, I'd consider doing the negative of what your pic shows... the lines being tattooed in black.  It would be just as recognizable and I'd think that the lines would be able to be darkened at a later day when they fade.  Just a thought.

Got this little Clockwork Orange Hot Stuff yesterday. I’ve admired the flash sheet for ages, and I wanted another tattoo. So I got him.

I got my first tattoo just before my 68th birthday, so at 29 you’re not late to the party.  😎

I've got an idea... stab it a couple times with a sharp object and see if it's as great as you think it will be.  😵

Day 2 down, both lower legs colored. Next trip we color the upper legs finishing up the full backpiece and then it's on to the front.

Hi everyone, I've read through this thread and the older back piece thread twice! All of your experiences really helped me get through my first 3 hours of outlines and I just wanted to share my beginning stages. Thank you in advance for reading.
 
This is 2 weeks old, next session is this Saturday. We have decided 3 hours work best for both of us lol

Just got this crazy watercolor portrait of Courtney Love done by Smel Wink @ Requiem Tattoo in Victoria Australia. Sat around 6 hours, pretty bloody stoked with how it turned out.

Finished. Artist insist I come back for a touch up in a couple weeks. It was worth the wait and sticking with a good Artist.
