At last my koi with Japanese maple sleeve is finished and pretty much fully heeled. The work was done by Mo Coppoletta from the Family Business in London, done in seven sessions between December and May.
Pictures also posted on the May tattoo contest thread elsewhere on this forum.

Ok, I'll play, though it is a tough month on this thread once again with lots of superb entries already.
My sleeve has recently been finished and has nearly healed, the work was done by Mo Copoletta at The Family Business in London, it took seven three hour sessions which between December and May. I have already posted a few in progress shots but this is the finished product.

Had my first of three appointments at The Family Business (with Mo) on Friday. We're bringing an old half-sleeve he did on my down into a full sleeve. Got the outline on and some shading, but I'm really looking forward to getting back in to follow on with it... April and May should see it finished.
Also squeezed in a brutal drinking session with two old college friends, involving 32% strength beer from BrewDog in Shoreditch. Had to snooze on a bench in the airport before my flight back. Getting too old for this shit.
I have my next appointment with Mo this Thursday, it will be the fifth session (of six) on my koi three quarter sleeve. All the outline and shading has been done and now it is time to start on the colours.

I currently have a three quarter sleeve in progress, from Mo Coppoletta at The Family Business in London, it is Japanese style with koi and autumnal Japanese Maple leaves. So far I have had four three hour sessions, all the outline and black shading is complete, I have two further sessions booked up (one mid March and one in early April) to complete the colour work. There are a few pictures which were taken after the second session on another thread: http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/general-tattoo-discussion/15-latest-tattoo-lowdown-page297.html#post57495
In time I think I would like my other arm to have a design made up of several palm sized traditional western style images, loosely themed around exploration/travel, filled in with roses or grapevines along with few small fillers. My first thought towards this would be a lady head in the style of a twenties female aviator (along the lines of Amelia Earhart or Amy Johnson), if I go with this idea I will probably go to Valerie Vargas.
I am also thinking about a cheetah head on one of my knees, surrounded by pike lettering which reads "heart full of napalm" (a references to a Stooges lyric).
And, and, and, the list is endless.

This is a good one from the Revisited Flash from the past book, from a few years back off of the original flash by Fred Maurquand.
I like that.
Hmmm, maybe I don't need to wait until my current work is finished before starting the next one.

@Brock Varty, no its not. I like pretty girls with jewelry, makeup, and a nice nose. It's hard because I look online for the right thing but I can't find anything I like that is is in a profile view, not shitty, (I'm not gonna steal anyone else's tattoo either) so I am stuck. I want a concept I can bring in, maybe with an example picture, so that he could draw it up to look good with my existing one.
I am about to say fuck it and Just get something on my legs instead. Maybe an old flash octopus I saw, or.... gah! All I want is a lady head with a cool theme.

@smoz, i really like that idea!!!
Thanks, feel free to use it. If I go ahead with getting it done I will go to Valerie Vargas from Frith Street, thinking it will be in the elbow ditch of my right arm. Need to wait until my koi sleeve is finished first, next appointment is 28th February.

Haha true. I have been seriously considering it!!! Just, I dont want another flapper, an not sure what id want the other lady to look like. I love the ones with blue cheeks but can never find a good picture!
I'm considering a lady's head in the style of a 20's female aviator, something like Amy Johnston or Amelia Earheart, from a similar era to the flappers.

I feel your pain, I am in the process of my first ditch heal. Ditch is a bitch.

Looks good. What are you covering?
Thanks, it's covering a pair of comedy and tragedy masks that I got about twenty years ago, they weren't particularly good when they were first done and haven't aged well.

Is this the right thread for work in progress?
I am in the process of getting a koi with maple leaves three quarter sleeve which is being done by Mo Coppoletta from The Family Business, so far I have had two three hour sessions, pretty much all the outline has now been finished.
Apologies for the poor quality of the pictures, they were taken with a phone, one handed over my shoulder ...

As a newly signed up member of this forum I have already mentioned this on the initiation thread but it looks like this is probably the correct thread.
I have six sessions booked up with Mo Coppoletta at The Family Store, the first will be next week, the last in early April, I will be getting a three quarter sleeve autumnal koi design on my left arm. I initially spoke to Mo months ago about what I am after and have an appointment tomorrow to discuss what I want.
I have decided to give him pretty much a free reign, to trust in his instinct and experience but these are my notes of my ideas to give him a starting point.
Two koi, swimming upwards. One predominantly black with flashes of gold, the other undecided, in a colour that will compliment the rest of the design. Suggest gold or yellow but will this work with colour of maple leaves?
Maple Leaves, changing colour, not too many, blowing in the wind
Chrysanthemum
A few rocks in the water
Rocks/water/wind bars etc grey work or black?
I went to see Mo yesterday to talk this design over, we are going with pretty much what I suggested but decided to drop the chrysanthemum and instead to incorporate a silhouette of a bare tree or branch into the design.
Work starts next Thursday, I can't wait.

Giving Mo free reign is the best possible idea. His Japanese work is gorgeous, and you'll do well to "trust in his experience and instinct." Great move!
I have seen some of his finished work and work in progress, Mrs Smoz was tattooed by Steve Vinall at TFB last year so we got to see some of his work then.

I think you generally see rocks in traditional Japanese paired with an Oni, a Fudo, or another figure that has legs or sits on the ground. I have seen some rocks in Japanese work but would consider that stuff neo-traditional.
@smoz Are you trying to keep your work strictly traditional Japanese or is there room for wiggle in what you want?
I am not trying to keep my design strictly traditional but would prefer to avoid anything too contradictory (hence maple leaves and chrysanthemums which I understand are both associated with the autumn/fall), room for wriggle room certainly.
When I mention rocks I am thinking of them being in the water, to help give the water some dynamic movement as opposed to rocks on the land.
-
He would certainly know better than I would. I'm interested to hear what you both decide. Don't forget to post pics!
That's one of the reasons I signed up, to show off my new work.

I was wondering about that, may drop the idea about the tree/branch. I have an appointment with Mo to discuss the design this Friday (we have talked briefly about it before) and the first appointment is the following Thursday.
Cheers for your advice, and thanks for the welcome.

Got a new one yesterday, done by Valerie Vargas at Modern Classic from some Ed Hardy flash.
