Well, I hope I'm not discouraging anyone with my complaints, lol! I am SO glad to have completed this part of my arm, since to me it always looked kind of odd (on me) to see the blank space on my inner bicep. The outer arm/shoulder tattoo was done without a specific line, but was free-form and organic, so it was easy for her to design the rest of the upper arm sleeve and connect the two areas seamlessly. I'm almost sad the weather is now getting colder and I'll be back in long sleeves and jackets! I will definitely get my other inner bicep done at some point.

I totally meant that in only a positive and honest way, :12_slight_smile:

and I agree,my arms look unfinished if I raise my arms ! LOL

Inner bicep/pit area done last night to complete upper arm sleeve. 3.5 hrs or so and pretty much murder, done at a convention, but I knew this location sucks, and I took it like the boss I am, lol. Tattoos hurt, and that's all there is to it.

Trouble sleeping from the residual pain, and today my upper inner arm is swollen, red, and hot to the touch. I've never had any of my tattoos react this way, but this is a very sensitive area and I think that's all it is. Tegaderm on board, and I'll get there!

The whole upper arm is now connected and it almost looks like it was done at the same time, not a year apart. #worthit #conventionartiststalker

I need to finish both my arms in that spot too,not looking forward to it.  good job !

oh ! and @LizBee  thanks for the motivation to get my "Inner bicep/pit area" finished !!!  your post is helpful. :)

  3. I have had similar issues with red ink over the years,I'm not allergic, but it used to heal badly compared to other colors and black,I will say though in the last 10  years  the red inks have been better quality and it does not happen anymore to me.IMO it's partly due to better quality inks and me knowing more about healing.

25/30+ years ago when I was getting tattooed, red ink was notorious for this problem.I have been getting tattooed since 84.

I've recently become a fan of Pis Saro's work. https://www.instagram.com/pissaro_tattoo/?hl=en

I can't tell you how much I love her subject matter and her style. Sadly, I don't live in Europe. Can anyone think of an American tattoo artist who creates similar work?

try contacting her and ask her if she has any U.S.  tattoo conventions or guest spots planned.

My name is Kristina and I am 27. I have a tattoo of Eeyore with a Cockatiel on his nose on my left calf. I’m getting a new tattoo on Thursday the 29th of a Phoenix with the Arizona flag as the color of the body. The Phoenix is being drawn up by the artist.

hi Kristina   and welcome ! can we see a pic of your Eeyore  ?

  6. Hi and welcome,do you mean you regret not having the whole tattoo done in white ? because if you had it would look like total crap by now, personally I would stay away from white other than used for highlights.

anyway,IMO any good artist could easily enhance and renew that tattoo by adding some to what's already there,re-hit the black a little, maybe add some small color  flowers and a little bit of feminine vines.

my wife has an ankle tattoo that didn't look just right and we went to a better artist and she added some cool little things to it and retouched the color and it looks great now.

    Greetings fellow longtime site users.

I have been noticing an unfortunate trend in topics posted to the site of late. Everyone and their brother and sister too, want to know; Is this is a good design that I found on google image search? Is my brand new tattoo as messed up as I fear it is after staring at it all day? Can you help me decide what goes with this, but I don't plan to like any of your suggestions? I got a bad tattoo and then a worse coverup and now I want it gone, but can't afford laser, and I have no intention of talking to an actual tattooer about a better coverup, what should I do?

In light of this influx of close minded advice seekers, I have decided to begin responding more often, but with an increased snark factor. I will encourage posters to persue their pre-determined courses of action with great vigour! Most make it easy by stating their decision in their opening paragraph.

I have noticed that some of you seasoned veterans of internet tattoo discussion, appear to be behaving likewise. For this I salute you. Let us make LST great again! A place where new users are cautious about telling us how it is, but where those who show a true interest can find a wealth of information.

To the surly few, carry on fine friends. You know who you are, and may you respond well knowing that your wit and sarcasm are appreciated!

    P.s.

Here is a picture of a tattoo I got, from Greg Christian, at the Art Tattoo show in Montreal this past weekend. I learned about him and many other greats through this site :)

    image.jpeg

so maybe that's why it's deserted here lately ,why shouldn't we welcome all these newbies ? won't they eventually hopefully turn into regular smarter about tattooing members ? as they learn when we tactfully and in a friendly manner try and answer their questions instead of being snarky, rude,or ignoring them ? so we can pass on our vast veteran knowledge to these people that will like I said, come here and learn,we have all asked stupid questions at one time or another and I'll guess you did too when you first started getting tattooed.

anyway, for me,I don't believe there are stupid questions, there are just questions.

    so that's my .02

Hey guys. I am super new to this forum- I hope I can get the help I'm looking for here!!

Basically, I have millions of beauty marks on my skin- darker and bigger than freckles. I like them, and I don't necessarily want to cover them up.
I was thinking about different tattoo designs for one of my upper arms that could involve curling around or basically weaving through my beauty marks.
What do you guys think? I thought maybe an octopus with its tentacles curling up around them- if that would fit.
I'm thinking black and white, if that helps.
Sorry the pictures are kinda bad quality!

    some coverage like this ?

    old_school_tattoos_style_design_photos_l

,and if not,I think your beauty marks are sexy anyway ! they don't need to be covered, maybe just find the right artist and go with a badass piece of art ! and don't worry about your beauty marks.

and like was already said,I have a few tattoos that had moles or whatever in them and the artist just went around them.

I just did tagaderm from walgreens for two days. It didnt quite fit on one of them so I doubled up and it was a bother.

I had the Aquafor unscented for babies stuff and just a generic sanitizer I used on it once after the padding from the tattoo shop was off.

If a watched pot never boils, does a watched tattoo never scab? Food for thought, maybe.

edit: not sure how relevant, but it was done with a rotary tattoo and some say that it does less scabbing than mechanical coiled machines or so I read today.

    I use Saniderm,they have a personal 3 pack of 8x10" sheets for $11.95 +$ 3.35 shipping  https://saniderm.com/product/8-in-x-10-in-personal-pack/

    Hi guys

    So, something I have been wondering about for some time;

Ive got two fulls sleeves on both of my arms. People are always talking about how cuts, scraps etc can damage a tatto but can tattooes be damaged by blows, hits smacks etc? So not talking about cuts and scars but physical damages.

Can the ink fade, disperse, get dislocated somehow? Last night my girlfriend hit me with her elbow really really hard because she fell onto our couch. She hit me right on my bicep and it is really sore today.

Another time i walked into a frame with my arm first, hitting an edge of a door, stopping my whole body weight on such a small place on my arm. No skin breaking but a really hard blow to a tattoed area.

Hope someone will chip in :-)

    Have a pleasant day

    cuts,deep scrapes,surgery,yes,can possibly damage tattoos,

but getting slugged with a fist or running into a door,no,it will not affect a tattoo IMO,it's just gonna hurt.

    .

I had broke my wrist a several years ago and had surgery and the scar fucked up a little part of my tattoo, but a little touch-up and it was fine.(see below)

Yup, I understand. There are lost of areas where the colors are muted by "onion skin" and I know those will settle out as the healing process continues. But, there are some places where the ink just isn't there - mostly in areas on the red flag stripes and the sun rays. It could just be that it was hard for the artist to see well since I know the skin got irritated and red. My first one needed just a little touch up as well. I fully expected it.

And, I agree....it is an awesome tattoo! :1_grinning:

    "onion skin" ????

Sorry if pics are huge (although I don't think dog pictures could ever be a problem), but my boyfriend and I adopted a dog recently! Her name is Maggie, she's a terrier mix. Her owner was going into a nursing home and had to surrender her to a rescue. She's very sweet and very lazy.

she is super cute, and thank you for adopting !

    .

.and the pic sizes are fine :) I believe this forum software resizes pics automatically anyway
