  2. I think it's a given that regulars here are aficionados of good tattooing. So you're preaching to the choir, here on LST at least. If you've read around you probably noticed the calibre of work people are getting. I don't really have a view on whether tattooing is a profession or a craft, I'll leave that one to the tattooers.

  3. Aw man, everyone is getting such great stuff lately. I haven't been tattooed this year yet. I think tomorrow I will be making an appointment with some friends to get one existing piece touched up and another finished. Way overdue for that, so there's something to look forward to. Anyway I think most of you have seen this on the 'gram, but here it is again

  5. Don't get us wrong. Intelligent people are always welcome here. Perhaps just poorly placed location in the forum though; a post like this probably fits best in the blogs section.

  6. It's like you're talking at people instead of trying to have a conversation with them.

  7. Agreed with @BrianH. There are many factors which can determine the amount of time a tattoo was done in. How well can a Client sit. How big a Client is. How fast the Artist is. What environment were they tattooed in. I don't know how many times I've heard a potential client walk into the shop I go to and ask this. The Artists and Shop Guys I know always tell them it's hard to say because a lot of it is not determined by the Artist but the Client. When getting my first tattoo, I asked the same thing. It's a popular question for people with little or no tattoos. If it's a money thing, all people need to know is have enough cash for each session and they're good. If it's because they have a low pain tolerance, setup shorter sessions and it'll work out.

  8. How tall are those people? Did they sit still or need breaks every 5 minutes? Too many factors to accurately estimate how many hours. I would randomly guess atleast 15-20 hours. Go to a tattoo shop and talk to a tattooer. They are much better at answering these questions. Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk

  9. Convinced I'm getting too old for this shit, but pretty proud of sitting through the outline on my belly last night.. though I did feel like a crazy person when we finished. All I could think was, "There's no way I can start my back.. there's no way I can start my back.." The worst part is the shitty sleep, though. I sleep on my front, so I basically spent last night dozing off and then having to get comfortable on my side again. Waaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh

  10. That ship is awesome; @Graeme! I managed to snag a cancellation with Grez yesterday to do a Panther Rose Morph. I'm pretty friggin stoked!

  13. Whoah, that is cool! Even if it is a reprint it is still super cool.

  14. Ha ha, excellent! @KBeee and I were just discussing this as a full body suit idea: you could have a whole suit of battles but stage it like a bracketed elimination tournament....eagle VS snake on the arm, Panther VS Dragon on the leg etc etc etc with the winners of each battle reoccurring in more prominent spots, culminating in a no holds barred battle royal center stage (on the back, of course) with the best of the best from several bouts.... TOTAL WAR!!!!111!!!

  15. Yo how much and how long! LOL. Sometimes it take a lot longer than you think. Other times shorter! Half sleeve can go anywhere from 15 to 20 to 25 hours .. it all depends on sooo many things. I usually prepare to pay about 500 to 1000 dollars more just in case. I wouldn't start an email to these artist with that question ! You may not get a response!

  16. My first response was, "as long as it took to get the job done." I don't understand the underlying point of the question, as @Graeme said.

  17. If someone could make a Squid V. Eagle V. Dragon V. Snake V. Panther V. The Grim Reaper , lol that would be tight, and by tight I mean awesome over-do chaos. Why not go completely over the top with the Battle Royal idea. It would be Battle "Royal with cheese"! It would have to be a Filip Leu full back-piece or not at all. Anyway thought I would throw that out there, to break things up a bit. I do love the concept of the big predator battle and will have to plan one for myself. My fist choice of three Biggies would be Tiger V. Eagle V. Snake.

I'm just waiting for the guy who shows up asking how he can tell which tattoo designer he should go with.

  20. Healing two different areas of my back done a week apart from one another. Ping-pong itching! It's like a whole second round of itching even though the skin has already fallen off, like bugs crawling under my skin. It's taking me about 10-12 days to complete a peel. Wish I was younger, maybe it wouldn't take as long. 2 weeks until my next session.

  21. Scott's was the worst. From what I can tell, the area in general is fucking horrible to have tattooed. Scott managed to finish the tattoo in a little over two hours. God damn it was fast. Freddy's was still miserable, but much easier to get through. @SStu here is a really shitty pic of the two semi-together. It's hard to get a good shot on both sides of the belly. (excuse the shitty tape marks).

    Upcoming Tattoos

Got a consultation with El Monga Monday at Tattoo City. Go back the next Monday to get the work done. STOKED. Not sure how it's going to play out exactly yet...I plan on tossing out the following and seeing what sticks: SKULL CANDLE WINGS LIGHTENING BOLTS

  23. Finished these ones yesterday. @Scott Sylvia did the skull on the right, Freddy Corbin on the left. These were done over a week and a half. It was a fuckin honor to be tattooed by both. Fuck sorry about the size.

  24. I'm almost out of tattooable space on mybody which is a bummer but the upside is that I can start collecting originals from the tattooers I'm interested in. Andre Malcolm has some awesome watercolors for sale, check them out. I'm waiting on a response to buy the green dragon and the gold dragon paintings..... I really want this one but it's way past my budget... This is what I have so far, the first is a set of 3 prints from Grime that he printed on watercolor paper so he could continue to add to them making this set of prints all one offs... hese are done by my friend Horacio Martinez, the first 3 are oil and the last is ballpoint on a handkerchief... I'm trying to get a commission from Tim Lehi, he just emailed me and said he needs to catch with others and to contact him in 2 months, I want something like this...

  25. If you offered assistance or helped out, he will send you an email and ask what format you would like a copy in. Super rad that he is doing this. Nothing but love for Stewart.

    State of Grace Write-up

I was hoping to go but I am in a wedding opening weekend so I won't be able to make it. My friends wife just doesn't seem to understand why she should postpone her wedding for a week.

@DJDeepFried, that would just be too sexy, I'm afraid. I'll have to wear jeans instead. ETA: Ok, so for the meet up...look for a blonde woman in jeans with a tall beardo in a fundoshi. That's us!

  30. Good for you for taking charge of your health. I have also gotten myself into better shape over the last few years and have found that this makes getting tattoos all the more fun. I have a tattoo I really like on my shoulder and I enjoy wearing clothing that shows it off (in the summer, it's below zero temperatures today). Three years ago I would never have worn sleeveless shirts. I feel like there is some kind of mutual incentive with all of this- I want to be fit so I can enjoy my tattoos and I like to get tattoos as an inspiration to remain fit. Get something you like and that you'd like others to see. You will know what it means to you and no one else will probably even care. I saw a wonderful quote recently that said something like "you will worry less about what other people think about you once you realize how infrequently they do so."

  32. God damn...I am officially jealous of David Bragger. The man has tattoos from Scott Harrison, Shige and Filip Leu, and now he's getting a backpiece from Buffalo Bob? We gotta get him on LST. Thanks for the link, @kylegrey!

  33. In our household... we like our Battle Royals with cheese and no whine, in one shot... Preferably in one sitting. I'll post a couple pics... It was his kids first tattoo, one sitting, like 8 hours...

  34. i've hung out with mike before, am a fan of his graffiti and drawings, have nothing against the guy, but...his tattoos are awful. his style doesn't translate well to the body at all and he has no real concept of tattoo design and it seems no intention of learning how to correctly design tattoos and execute them well. it seems that the main reason people want tattoos from him is they are fans of his other artwork. you're better off buying a print or drawing i think. i also read that interview where he says flat-out that the clothing label pays him more so he quit tattooing. pretty fucking lame. but, to each their own. we all pay our own bills in the end.

i love them, too. Gia, there's so much about this site that makes me want to say "I love you guys," but I've held back, so far.
