Lochlan reacted to RoryQ in Food and Drink list
Took the woman several hours slaving away, but she did well...
Scallops, black pudding and cauliflower purée.
Beef Wellington, greens and red wine / mushroom jus.
There were more pictures but this vintage port is going down too easily and I'm losing control of my arms.

Lochlan reacted to Dig Your Own Grave in Long time lurker, first time poster.
Hi everyone. My names Jake.
I'm 23 from a small town bout' an hour outside of London, UK.
Ive been lurking the forum on and off for about a year now and thought it was about time i signed up.
I'm not sure i'll have too much to add to the forum, your doing a great job already and I signed up mostly just to say thanks.
This forum has taught me so much about what makes a good tattoo and has opened my eyes to some really great artists.
Thanks to you guys i've finally got some tattoos that i'm really happy with and i hope to get many, many more
When i get access to a half decent camera, i'll post some pictures of my tattoos but for now keep up the good work.

Lochlan reacted to slayer9019 in 3D Printing
The one thing I would find one of these at home infinitely useful for would be stupid plastic car parts. I would be printing all kinds of gauges, dash pieces, various interior doo-da pieces (clips, molding, etc) and maybe and custom airbox.
When I was in college we used the uber-expensive 5-axis CNC to mill out skateboard trucks. I think the school got a bit upset at the waste involved but it was cool!

Lochlan reacted to face in Scars over tattoos, what happens?
I have a full chest piece that got cut through because of an open heart operation and the most common question I get is “was it done before or after the surgery to cover the scar?” My response is “It was just good forethought”, my heart problem came as a surprise. Super glad I did it because after the surgery I don’t want another sharp object within a mile of my chest. I had a rock star surgeon take me apart and put me back together, with attention paid to lining the ink back up correctly, now there is an obvious quarter inch incision with hard scar tissue, but the tattoo looks fine.
My advice is get your full chest done now, but just be sparring with the detail on the center line where you will be cut, tell the artist, they might dig the idea and design something that will look better with the scar through it. Do you have an existing scar? Like you said in 5 years valve replacement can likely be done without the need to crack the chest, but don’t count on that. As for tattooing the scar, f-that it cost about $250,000 ill be keeping mine and I bet it would be years before the scar is adged enough for a cover.

Great documentation of the process. You got some awesome results for just 5 treatments.
I'm compiling my tattoo laser removal process as well and will possibly make a thread on this forum after a few more sessions/more progress.
I sympathize with you getting laser on your full back though. Not fun at all.

Lochlan reacted to Pugilist in Latest tattoo lowdown.....
I got this amazing torch this weekend from Ron Wells at Congress Street Tattoo in Portsmouth. It was part of a really great weekend trip that we took to celebrate a bunch of stuff, and in addition to getting tattooed, we hung out a bunch with our dog, gorged ourselves on seafood, and enjoyed the awesomeness of New England. Boy my thigh is sore as hell but I love love love this tattoo.

Thanks for your comments! I'm very excited with the piece. I forgot to include another part of my experience that I think you all would appreciate...
So when I was going crazy with anticipation waiting to see a drawing for the piece and checking my email a billion times a day, Eddy sends an email saying that his "old friend Dan Higgs" said "whoa" three times in a row when he saw the drawing and that that was a very good omen. And then my head almost exploded ;)

Lochlan reacted to Rob I in Latest tattoo lowdown.....
Here is a wolf head that Ron Wells did for me last night at Congress St Tattoo, in Portsmouth, NH. Not sure if you can tell by the pics, but it's on my right forearm, up close to the elbow. LOVE IT! Great experience, Ron is an awesome dude.
Also had the pleasure of meeting @Graeme, and @Pugilist, who drove down from Canada for an appt with Ron as well. Pugilist got something amazing, but i won't divulge as I haven't seen her post a pic here yet.. but I did see it on instagram and it is completely and totally sick.

true to iphone form, the pics are pointing the wrong way, which is annoying as can be.

We have no intentions of selling others artwork. Minus an upcoming feature we'll be offering but that is grounded in respect for tattooing and tattooers that Scott will be heading....can't say too much yet.

Less than two hours. Tapped out on doing any shading. (I blame it on the late night arrival the night before, it makes me feel better)

If you are close to the San Jose area, check out State of Grace. They have quite a few artists who specialize in the traditional Japanese/Irezumi style. I just got a half sleeve from Horitomo (pics below). Horitaka also does a great job and they added a new member recently in Horiken from Japan. Even if you aren't close, I would check these guys out. I highly recommend Horitomo as he is one of the best in the U.S. in my opinion.

Lochlan reacted to Scott R in Bad first experience
this is so silly, there is no need for all this hoopla. If your hesitant why not ask the wealth of knowledge right here are your fingertips? there are many contributors here from California both enthusiasts and tattooers. It can be as simple as I think xxx guy is who I am going to, I live xxx. what do you guys think. It sucks you got a bad tattoo but you dont have to repeat the process or go at alone trying to find a good tattoo.

Lochlan reacted to justcallmematt in Please help if you can, not sure if its just healing or not healing properly
In most cases it is better to do absolutely nothing to your tattoo than to over care for it.
Your photos look like a normally healing tattoo.
The white, wrinkly, opaque skin- is just your new skin ( as far as white dots- it's impossible to say without seeing)
I usually advise a light wash daily, pat dry, apply mild lotion sparingly a few times a day- massage in to skin.
Everybody heals differently.
Don't worry

After 14 sessions spanning 15 months, I'm thrilled to say that my back piece--courtesy of Jay Cavna--is finished. It's a rooster/boar/snake battle royale with peonies. We just wrapped it up a few hours ago. I couldn't be happier with it and am blown away by Jay's skill and commitment to his work.
Here's the pic.
