Hey everyone, I'm just looking for some advice on a good forearm tattoo. I already have a rock of ages on my right forearm that you might have seen and I'm trying to figure out what to get on the other arm. One design I particularly like is this classic sailor jerry pinup, but let me hear your ideas! EDIT: I've also though about getting some kind of dagger. What do you guys think?

I'm currently visiting SF and while here I got tattooed by Kahlil. Due to the placement (my thigh) we decided to put some saniderm on it so it wouldn't imped on my walking around the city. I had used tegaderm during test runs but never on a fresh tattoo. After a day of walking the saniderm peeled on all corners pretty bad. The next day we continued walking around without an issue. That night I went to take a shower; I did my best not to get it wet but in the end the saniderm filled with water. I had no choice but to remove it. once out of the shower I was faced with a choice to either leave it off and have my tattoo rub against my jeans for 6-8 miles a day for the next three days or apply the tegaderm I brought. I opted to apply my tegaderm and boy am I happy I did. I had read mixed reviews on reapplying adhesive to your tattoo but I felt like I was left with little option. I'm on our final day here in SF and the tegaderms held up like a dream. There has been zero iritation and the tattoo appears to be coming along like a dream. Tegaderm in my opinion is leaps and bounds better than saniderm. It's thinner with better adhesive and more stretch. I'll keep everyone up to date once I take it off. As of now I stand behind reapplying adhesive if the situation calls for it.

Yes it is possible it could also just be healing at a different time of year, or healing from a different artist etc. Try some cortisone or Benadryl cream on it. It doesn't sound like it is bad enough to go to the doctor yet. You can always ask your tattooer.

Husband's next is the end of the month. Then we both go back the beginning of May---tho I have no clue what I'm having done. My brother is going to see if he can get an appointment w/another artist there that same day so we can all be there at the same time. Which, I gotta say, I'm totally stoked about-I get to see him so rarely and he makes me so happy. Three crazy artists and three crazy clients...they'll either love us more or they'll ask us to never come together again.

Very cool, @TheFnTexan. Jacci tattooed me at Electric Ladyland in New Orleans back in the early 80s.

So this wasn't a "latest tattoo" but it was a recent experience in a tattoo shop.... Last night, I was fortunate enough to attend a very informal, intimate get-together in Shanghai Kate's backyard. Kate had Lyle Tuttle and Jacci Gresham spending the day with her. It was absolutely unreal to sit and chat with these folks. As someone who is very into the history of tattooing, it was like stepping into a time machine.

How long have you had that? It looks fresh, with the skin still angry. Let it heal. B&G softens up quite a bit. Yes, of course you can speak to your artist about your concerns, it is your arm. She should not get angry, and should explain to you what her plans are and show you a fully healed example of what she's doing to you.

I've got a tattoo scheduled in about three weeks. Woohooooooo!

I assume you are aware that a healed tattoo will never look as vibrant as the one in the photo? Nothing to do with how good the artist is, but with how tattoos heal. Just saying... Still always a good a idea to try and find a good artist.

Probably my favorite right now is Steve Byrne, I'm always amazed at his creativity, crazy colors, and super bold lines. I have nothing by him...yet. And I guess I can post this here too. I got this Cap Coleman dragon design last night by Wes Garvick in York, PA. I've wanted a dragon for a while now and Cap does some of my favorites.
