  1. I snagged this from Benny Haft over at Allied last week. I finally finished my torso after five years, done by Ian Dana Camp (formerly of Good Faith in Boston) currently at Adventure Tattoo in Nashville. He was all booked up in Boston before his move, but I luckily caught him doing a guest spot in Philly right after he moved.

  3. so,just know that tattoos take around 6 months the fully heal if not longer. and also remember that a tattoo will NEVER look the way it did the day it was done EVER again.

  4. friendly advice, but a touch up on a 2mm tattoo ? in 6 months it's going to look like a couple freckles anyway.

  6. Honestly, I'd get the advice of a doctor and your artist. I have developed hives from various things recently and at first thought that might be what you were having. But if they've been there 3 weeks, then I wouldn't expect that to be what you are dealing with.

  11. Hi again! Thank you all very much for being so nice to me. I really appreciate your time and suggestions. You've all been really helpful & informative! Update for @zetroc & @Graeme: Last week, I decided to go ahead and buy Lost Love, and I'm very excited to look over it myself before I wrap it! I was considering either Lost Love or Tattootime, but I think that if my friend did happen to have one of them, it would be more likely that he has Tattootime (either the full set or individual magazines). However, I'd really like to see about Tattootime as a future option if he doesn't. Also, thank you to @Gingerninja and @eisen7979 for recommending Cor Mysterium! Unfortunately, it is out of my price range, but it does look awesome... maybe one day! @Devious6 -- Thank you for welcoming me! I have to admit that I joined this forum primarily to get some guidance with my friend's gift, but I've really enjoyed my time here (I've looked over various other topics & posts as well, and I love going through pages & pages of everyone's tattoos), so I might stick around... I'm interested in potentially getting a tattoo myself one day, and I'd like to do plenty of research first and educate myself accordingly! A big thank you to everyone once again; it was so great to have you be a part of this with me. :)

  12. It looks like it could be allergies I would just take some benadryl.

  13. Not familiar with how that looks, but it would be unusual for there to be an ink reaction only after 5 months.

    Take The Pain?

If it's your first tattoo, don't use the numbing cream. Rib tattoo is intense, but being your first you won't know any differently. So take the above advice above about preparing your mind and body for the tattoo and you will be fine! If you really are a bit anxious, have a shot or two of liquor to calm your nerves and take it like a champ. Numbing cream is becoming more popular and accessible these days. I'm talking about the high concentration shit that makes you feel nothing, not a light bactine spray or some booze to take the edge off and get you through the hump. People want the tattoo but they don't want to work for it. I don't agree with that because part of the spiritual power of the tattoo comes from earning it, a rite of passage. I do think it has its place for some of the very challenging spots to keep both you and the tattooers momentum going on a big tattoo session. Also, FYI if a strong concentration of topical anesthetic cream is applied incorrectly i.e. left on for too long, too much on the body it can be absorbed into the bloodstream and toxic to your system. You risk a trip to the hospital for health complications. I've heard several stories like this where too much is used and next thing the session is cut short and buddy's in a taxi to the hospital cause his vision suddenly went blurry or the heart starts beating irregularly. Tattooing isn't supposed to be a sunny time on the beach, it is raw and unapologetic and to many of us that is what the beauty and attraction of what a tattoo is. My $0.02
