  2. Just got back from Cali and these are my souvenirs. Candle and coffin by Scott Sylvia and a little California black and gray skull rose by Freddy Corbin. The tattoos speak for themselves and I don't have enough time to tell ya how awesome of human beings these guys are.

  4. I had my consult with Rose Hardy. We are going to go bigger and make it a nice sized leg piece. She's going to be back in the winter and eventually moving to NYC. I'm kind of excited to do a big piece and have a nice work in progress. It'll suck having to wait but make for a killer tattoo. And it works out great because I was planning on holding off after this summer and maybe getting some small one shot tattoos, but working on a big piece over time is going to be a cool new experience. And Grez is awesome like every one said. Every time I go to Kings Ave he always remembers me and wants to see how my tattoos have settled in and ask how my wedding planning is going haha. He is so committed to his clients, great dude.

  6. Our daughter told us we couldn't get the one with the skull on it. "No skulls!", she announced. We got it anyway. Bad parents. If it really freaks her out, we may have to put it aside for a bit until she grows out of this phase. @DJDeepFried was all, "But look honey, it's smiling, it's not scary, it's a cute happy skull!" Still no dice.

  11. Hah, this is exactly why I don't have any spider tattoos. Or why most of my Michael Parks artwork is in the attic.

  14. The Tattoo Elite International ones are about 4x5 but on 8x10 paper (or something like that) so no matting necessary! Stick them in a frame and you're good. We just got the second set of prints yesterday.. @Pugilist sent them to a friend in NYC because they don't ship internationally and she came up for a visit and brought them along...so now we're only missing one of the Tattoo Elite International prints. Going to get this apartment painted and then have a Horitomo cat wall of our own.

  16. Glad to hear all the good things. I know I've enjoyed his work for years, and he seemed super nice at the consult. I'll obviously post pics once it's done.

  17. Thanks @ironchef & @Lance! I was super bummed I missed out on the first set of four -- mostly because I loved the tebori cat one -- but I wouldn't have thought to look on Tattoo Elite International. @TrixieFaux & I just picked up those top three -- and I think I like those the best! For sure we want to get them framed & matted all classy-like like how you have 'em.

Yeah, Grez will be doing two pretty traditional looking panther(ish) heads, but with the coloring of my two cats on the back of my leg. I'm giving him some freedom with the background/filler though. I booked back in February or March for September, and I can't wait.

  20. Thanks for sharing this, @Deb Yarian! What a lucky kid. Not only does he have the fortune of being born into a great tattoo family, but he also gets to go to an Ivy League Tattoo School for the summer.

Final sitting on my left arm sleeve with Mo Coppoletta (TFB) in August, and booked in for another two days in Tokyo for work on my front by Tomo (Yellow Blaze). That's November... going to be a flying visit. When these are done it's the last of the big work for me, I'm going to fill in what's left in one-shot tattoos that I ration out :) Not been posting much because I've been busy with work, moving house and getting married (18 days away). Still lurking though...!

  32. Nobody thinks it makes sense, not even the "fat cat" types, they are just simply in the position to pull it off and lack moral backing. Agreed. When things are run by the government they end up being terrible because government has no competition. With no competition, why would they function properly when just passing for piss-poor performance can suffice with a nearly unlimited flow of tax dollars flowing in (not even going to get into how taxation is technically illegal and the IRS is not a government org and blah blah blah). A great example of no competition/everyone gets a "fair share" is Russia. Talk to anyone who lived in Russia under Soviet control...its was a fuckin mess. The car technology was haggard at best (hell look at Urals...1940s tech that you can still purchase!) and everything was pretty much along the same lines. Also countries where there is universal health care, from what I've been told, you usually opt for private insurance anyway to skip the insane waits. So...back to square 1
