My poor butt! You can see the beads of blood already forming on the lotus on the left side. Butt is finished. Not much left! I swear this towel was clean before we started. And I got to add a new color to my stained fundoshi. Purple!

    New from Vancouver

Hello all. Just want to introduce myself I'm joe from Vancouver. Always been fascinated by tattoos and the art and design that comes with it. I just had a 2/3 ish sleeve done a few weeks ago. And looking at doing the other arm in a few months. Looking forward to hearing advice and seeing some great work on this forum.

  9. Hey guys, sorry to necro an old thread, but I thought you might all be interested to see that I got my design completed today. I'm more than happy with the result, and must give props to @Joe Shit and @Nest for recommending Gerry Carnelly at Octopus Tattoo in Derby. Speaking of which, here's a picture of the result from his instagram:

  10. It's too early to worry about irregularities in color, the skin does weird things while it's healing. If you aren't happy with the color or solidity of some of the lines you can get it touched up later. I'd let it dry out completely, only apply more lotion/goo if it feels exceptionally dry or itchy, and even then just a pea sized bit, just enough to cover it, not enough to shine.

Since @exmember88 won't be reading this, I guess I can say whatever I want. HA-HA-HA, YOU SURE DO GOT A FUNNY NAME! IT'S LIKE SOOOOO LONG. AND THAT MIDDLE NAME... EVERYONE KNOWS PANTHERS ARE WAY COOLER THAN LYNXES! AND The lynx is considered a national animal in the Republic of Macedonia[32][33] and is displayed on the reverse of the 5 denar coin. WTF IS A DENAR?! THAT'S NOT EVEN REAL AMERICAN MONEY!!! MAN, I SURE DO LOVE BULLYING PEOPLE ON THE INTERNETS! IT MAKES ME FEEL SO GOOD!

  14. I'll agree with Graeme, Yann is well known in Mtl and does good work in his style. You shouldn't sweat it too much, when you friend gets tired of this piece he can still get a giant solid black panther blasted over everything. Third time is the charm they say.

    new here

hoping to avoid the bashing and actually get some helpful advice here. I have been working on this tattoo for over 2 years now. I started piecing together ideas etc shortly after my mom died. About 6 weeks ago i finally had nuts and money to get started. The magnolias, ribbon, words, and dragon are from my sketch. Of course i am not all that great of an artist so i used a template for the actual dragon head. I met with my artist and he reworked my sketch (mostly changing the ribbon up so it flowed better around the flowers and transitioned better to the dragon). My first sitting was just the outline of my sketch. My second sitting was to add the water, stones, and shading. (I chose water as it is my mother's element)Other than that i gave the artist free reign with the water and stones. The picture i have attached is shortly after my second sitting. My third sitting was Saturday and we got all of the water completed and colored with blue, light blue, and white. It looks great but i didn't get a picture and now its in the healing process so it looks rough. i am looking for some insight into the colors I should use for the remainder. The ribbon needs to be some shade of pink as it represents my mother’s fight with breast cancer. How would it look to transition the pink ribbon to a red dragon? Or should i change it up and do an all red ribbon and dragon and use pink for the words? or?? I wouldn't even mind to do the dragon and ribbon in all pink or something, but then what color do i do the words? The flowers are magnolias so they will need to be white/pink/light blue highlights. Thanks for any help. Please don't post here to bash the work. I am very pleased with the work so far. As you can tell, it is also a cover up. I had my initials done about 15 years ago. they are behind and below the "Faith" - - - Updated - - - i have actually figured some things out and forgot to include them in that last post. I have decided that i would like the dragon and ribbon to be all one color. I just think trying to transition it will not look right. I would love to do the magnolias in pink and white. I'm just not sure what to do with the dragon and the words.

Thanks Mark, reading it now.. So far it looks like I'm going to be a culturally insensitive jerk since I'm considering a sugar skull too. - - - Updated - - - I suppose it would give me some encouragement to hear from others like me who chose the design despite not being Native American as well.

IF I can, my reasons for joining this forum is to become more educated in tattooing in general due to the fact that I have had a reactions to hypoallergenic steel so I am a little worried as to any possible reactions I may have.I have even looked at some of the older forms of tattooing(shark tooth or bamboo) and those just sound painful. I have been invited to sit down and speak with a visiting artist monk that is coming to Edmonton in October.

  24. I agree that this artist does solid work, just not in a style that I would ever get. What I think bothers me most is that some of the designs would be better (imo) if they were smaller. Like the skele-dog and flower on the girl's back. So much great space there and it's all empty. Let's all just take a moment and imagine that the dog was actually a tiger and the flower was a giant snake. And they were fighting.

  27. Gee @exmember88 (snappy handle BTW)! Pretty sure @SeeSea was just trying to help. If you just wanted to bitch about something you can keep it in the privacy of your home. Why bother posting on a public forum if you didn't want a response? Discourse is what we do here. And seeing as she's contributed so much good stuff to this forum and you're relatively new, I'm gonna give her the benefit of the doubt. Get over yourself.

  28. I will never understand why people say "can I have your opinion" when what they really mean is "can I have your approval". Not my thing either, I do see the charm in some of them though I wouldn't want it on my body.

Thank you @Reyeslv and @ironchef @SeeSea Honestly the healing is the worst part about the butt. For me the worst pain is lower back.... and that so happens to be the largest part left. Next session is going to be fun!

I don't know what you guys are all complaining about. I look at all the "tattoo pain" pictures on the internet and they all show the butt as one of the spots on the body where the pain is lower. I think you guys are all just looking for attention and the opportunity to show off your backsides and using this forum as a way to publicly admire butts and your S&M tendencies without the shunning of society.

    Re-wrapping tattoos

I prefer alcohol on fresh tattoos. You never know - there could be bacteria and all sorts of stuff in there from the tattooing process. Better safe than sorry.
    1 point
  32. For one, it looks like you might be putting too much aftercare on it - you don't need it this slicked up all the time. Are you soaking it or letting it get really wet for long periods of time? The lighter areas may be moist scabs and the color will settle after the skin and scabs completely go away. Tattoo Gu isn't causing this - it's fine although not a preferred method around here. On the other hand, the areas around the blue look more inflamed than around the black. Some people around here have reported a sensitivity to some blues. Maybe that is your case, or you could be looking at an infection. Send the pics to your artist and have him look at it them. If you are worried about an infection, see a doc.

    Just win baby!!!

Hello L.S.T. Obviously new to the forum but excited to be a part of the community. I have already started reading some of the threads and even checked out a couple of the worst tattoo pics...... NUFF SAID!!! The title of my post has nothing to do with anything other than EVERYTHING! RAIDER4LIFE! I have always been a big fan of tattoos and the culture. I have about 8 (only one visible) and want a lot more. Just can't quite get over the fear that one day I might land that "DREAM JOB" where people might judge me for the ART that i display on a daily basis. Anyway I digress, family man, god fearing and tattoo lover holla at ya boi.

    yelp & tattoo shops

I will say first off that I don't work for Yelp and I don't own a business reviewed by Yelp. (And I read between the lines when I use Yelp.) But I read the FAQ and I design algorithms and some of this makes a lot of sense to me. Ignore all this if you want ::shrugs:: but it at least partially explains your rating and can help you improve your rating going forward if you wanted to. So, I'm repeating my Yelp quote from above for completeness: Sifting through your Yelp reviews, most of your shop's "not recommended" reviews are by people with 0 or 1 friends, and have posted only 1 review - for your shop. Also, there are a large number of reviews for your shop all in a few short periods of time, all made by people doing only 1 review - for your shop. And all of those reviews give your shop 5 stars. Some of the 5 star reviews include one from your owner and from someone simply complaining that there are bad reviews! From the Yelp FAQ, they use a software algorithm to detect trends like these and tag them as not recommended. From an algorithm standpoint, these look like fake reviews designed to inflate your rating. You could easily have gotten those reviews by having all your friends sign on and create "fake" reviews. As you might suspect, this happens all the time on Yelp. Now, you say that the reviews are genuine, but you, the business representative/owner, took an action to influence your reviews. Yelp doesn't like that behavior (lots of 5 star reviews from people only having reviewed 1 business in a short period of time). As a consumer, I would look askance on those reviews as well. Also from the Yelp FAQ: So, now that you understand how Yelp works, you can game Yelp back. If you want a review to be recommended, ask your clients to post the review RIGHT AFTER they get the service, not by making a mass call for reviews all at the same time. The reviews need to be randomly spaced out in time. And tell some of them to give you 4 stars - which is still a great rating. That will still help your current rating and have less of a chance of the review being rejected. Also, ask your owner to respond to negative reviews with a short, professionally-worded reply that shows you are being responsive, not defensive. My $0.02. YMMV
