  1. Tattooed Seniors Finally Put A End To The Question "But What About When You're Older?"

  2. Ladies and Gentleman, we've got (some) color  Tonight we managed to do a 3.5 hour session of mostly greens and red. Unfortunatly we can't continue until the end of may... A six week break after 3 months of bi-weekly sessions... how am I going to survive that?! :p

  3. These are my findings: Doing what you want to is cool and never a turn-off for the right person. I surveyed 1 person for this poll. 1 out of 1 agreed. The beardo in the other room would probably agree w/me too though. So let's just say 100% of the tattooed women and bearded men in this house were on board.

I'll see if I can dig up some more wolf pics. That is one of our favorite shots just because it shows how big they can be. Lakota was only a little over a year old when that picture was taken; he is about 5 years old now and still very human-friendly. He lives in an enclosure with his three siblings. We refer to that enclosure as the lickatorium. :D - - - Updated - - - A couple more shots from the same moment. All I can find on my computer. I'll dig up some more this weekend. There are a ton of wolf sanctuaries around the country and most are desperate for volunteers. A little sweat is all that is required in exchange for making a bond with a wolf...or ten. We generally camp about 50' below the pens in an Aspen grove. Few things in this world match listening to wolves howl at the moon right up a hill from your camp. Highly recommended! - - - Updated - - - Here is the video that those shots were pulled from. It was our first visit to the sanctuary. A couple of the wolves are hybrids; Zoya being the prime example. She was actually domesticated and lived indoors for a while, which explains her rotund shape. The second video is more for sound. It was the first night we spent at the sanctuary. Everybody we take camping there, goes back for more.

  6. Same here! Back in my drinking days, I didn't care about such things, but now a comfortable bed is highly preferable to a sleeping bag on the ground. One crazy thing that happened though, is we had a mountain lion growl/roar at us on our way back to our tent from the bathroom the last night there. It was scary!!!! We grouped together with another family who were also walking back and had heard it, too. We didn't see him because it was really dark but we all heard the roar, and it sounded really close. We had seen signs around that one had been spotted by campers. Now, if I go back there, I think I will opt for a cabin instead of a tent because the cabins have bathrooms and I won't have to walk outside much after dark. - - - Updated - - - It's good to go outside your comfort zone, good for you, and I'm sure you wouldn't have gotten the part if you sounded like a wildebeest! Sounds like a big relief on the 2nd opinion, phew. My hair...this pic is from our camping trip so I'm all hippied out -- no makeup ;) (And that is, of course, my handsome @DJDeepFried grinning by my side.)

Art was done by Sean Cliver Taz had a chance to buy the original art from him and Taz has been kicking himself for not doing it ever since....LOL - - - Updated - - - Art by Wes Humpston (Dogtown fame) Production deck is the one I skated by Bulldog Art on the right (I was just a cruiser....not a ripper) Hand Painted deck (on left) was done by Wes and given to me as a Wedding anniversary gift from Taz! The tattoo is in the center of my back and was done by Brian Bruno at Read Street Tattoo! Are you shocked a girl who grew up in Lansdowne would have skate tattoos @irezumi?

Probably not a lot to find out there besides logo tats, but let's still try to keep it interesting and original-ish instead of a exact duplication of the Santa Cruz hand or something. @Graeme inspired thread after reading of his recent skateboard purchase. Of course there is the Grime one, definitely one of my faves Not a shameless plug, just an awesome tat to share by Pee Wee The above having been said, I still feel compelled to include this Jim Phillips one from Dave Regan That's all I have at this moment, it's been a busy morning. I'll post more as I recall seeing or finding good ones.

First we have my beloved Cain, may he rest in peace, who was sadly put down a year and a half ago before he made it to 13. He was such a cuddle monster. He would stretch his body across mine and sleep, or play dead when I tried to get him down off of me. Next we have Kylo, my gentle sweetheart. He's 14 this year, his hearing is going, and his back end is a bit weak, but he's still doing well. For all the bodily noises and smells that come out of this old man, I still love him to bits. And finally, my cat-bros [littermates], Tulkas and Mandos. Named after Tolkien deities, they just turned 9 last month. Tulkas shies away from other people, but he's the biggest mamas boy. He loves to perch on my shoulder or bury his face in my neck. Mandos, well Mandos just about loves everybody [except animals other than Tulkas] and will roll over for a perfect stranger to pet his belly.

I wouldn't bother with that article. It also states that beards on men are the biggest turn-off for women. 33% from a group of only 500. And it doesn't say where that 500 comes from. Beards are cool on men. Tattoos are cool on women.

Are you into more historically-oriented graphic novels? Art Spiegelman's Maus is an absolute must. Joe Sacco is great and his books on Palestine and Bosnia (Safe Area Gorazde and The Fixer) are both excellent. I really enjoyed Marjane Satrapi's Persepolis which is about the Iranian Revolution. These should all be fairly easy to find too. I'm currently reading The Black Star by Lin Carter: I like going through used bookstores and buying books with good cover art, and you don't get any better art than a Frank Frazetta painted cover. The book itself is pretty run of the mill sword and sorcery but is enjoyable nevertheless. This is what a fantasy novel should look like, fuck those photoshopped bullshit covers.

  14. Nah I knew you'd have some good input here. Bunny just gave credit to one of my favorite spots on the east coast. Lansdowne was one of the last of the outlaw skate parks. An old park made 40 years ago even before the heyday of the 70s explosion, it had all of the lines of a huge wave style park with big snake runs, massive hips and banks. Self-governed and self-policed that spot was a forgotten hidden gem in the back of an old classic blue collar neighborhood, ruled only by locals, rippers and burnouts. In other words, I felt right at home. Pads and helmets were shunned and the type of concrete was burlier than 8 grit sandpaper. The bails there were unforgiving and bloody and best healed by pouring beer on the open wound. Each day would end on the top side of the park watching the sunset with every skater sharing beers and smoking joints. That place was so rad. Imo, the worst thing that happened to that place was rehabbing it and reminding people that it's there.

  19. Ok so better photo of my arm - the bottom designs are from Hokusai woodblock prints of Higashi Hoganji Temple and Mt Fuji - both from the views of Fuji Collection (I lived near Mt Fuji for 5 years) and am thrilled with the progress - we're going to keep working down the arm but Daniel at the Pearl in Toronto does such amazing work I thought I'd share this.

  20. Yep, Snake & Hannya collab from Junii and Shad. I am also curious to see how it all comes together!! Junii has some kind of inspiration the night before almost every time I come in, so even when I think I know what we're doing next, it is usually bigger and badder than our original plan. I'm cool with it! ;) (I obviously trust her a LOT). I'm kinda waiting til we start on the snake and hannya before I do anything too big anywhere else...but I've got a whole other leg I want to attack...ahh!!!

  21. When Miles tattooed me around Christmas this year, he said he was a little annoyed about the photo that went around of him with the caption "our generation will be some weird grandparents" (and variations of that) He said he was in his 40s and just had his first kid damnit, haha. I wonder what he'd say to being lumped in as a senior!

I doubt it, there seems to be a bit of a double standard going on. It's assumed that every decision a woman makes about the way she looks needs to be made for the approval of men, but the same standard isn't applied to men. Also, according to this women find tattoos less of a "turn-off" than men do, probably because tattoos are generally considered masculine. Tattoos on women are mens biggest turn-off ? women don't like beards - Odd News | newslite.tv

In the last couple of weeks I've found myself beginning to look into graphic novels. I haven't read comics in more than 20 years, but a friend pointed me to a great one on Gettysburg. Does anyone have any recommendations for a neophyte comic reader?

That's precisely it. A result of their one dimensional thinking suggests there's only two type of people out there: me, and people who wont like me due to having ink. That the only people available for me to be interested in will never be interested in me. Ridiculous. I wonder if men hear the same thing.

  40. Thanks, Lance! I didn't do anything *too* exciting...thought about scheduling a tattoo, but I'm booked with Junii next week, so I figured I'd save my money for that! (and maybe get another tattoo while I'm in SF...) I'll be in SF next week. I'm booked on the 23rd & 24th...pics forthcoming! We are connecting the waterfall down my leg, adding color to the kingyo, and doing some rock work, I believe. I've got a weird spot on my upper inner arm that is blank and bugging the hell out of me...I'm thinking some sort of skull/dagger/snake joint to fill the large, weird spot (bc i's driving me craaaazyyy). I've seen some work from Christopher Ayalin at Liberty Tattoo in Seattle that is giving me the itch...(like I didn't have it already?)

  44. That sounds like a better way to camp. The last time my friends went camping, I drove back to town each night and stayed in a hotel. Sleeping on rocks with rowdy fellow campers was never really my thing. Cheers to those who enjoy real camping - this seems more my speed.

  45. Had our first official play rehearsal..not being able to read music is a bit of a hindrance hahahaha! Luckily my lead teacher at work is in it and her husband is the director so she's going to help me figure things out. I thought being in the chorus meant I'd just be standing there singing-cuz that's what we did in 7th grade chorus. um...sooowwaaa yeahno. Movement. And singing at the same time-and I'm one of the prostitutes, so I will have to be cozying up to the sailors..and doing this all whilst not laughing at the absurdity of myself on stage. The rest of the cast is completely amazing, vocally, so the dying wildebeest on stage will not be noticed. Aaaand I had a second opinion on my iffy first ever mammogram and ultrasound, didn't get the 100% all clear, but got as close to that as it can be, so that took a huge load off our minds! And I totally want to see your hair, Trixie!

  48. Battered and bruised! Had my first session on my back with Chris over at Kings Ave this past Thursday. I managed to get through 4 hours to complete the basic outline with the exception of the hair on the severed heads. Saving that for the next session along with the remaining background. I'm super excited to continue to work on this and see it progress over time as this is what I've been busting my hump at work for the past year now and it's absolutely completely worth it.

  49. I have a lot of OPINIONS on the myriad of ways that tattoo culture can still be really shitty to women, but rather than going on a rant about that right now, I will say this: Because it can indeed be kind of isolating being an (increasingly) heavily tattooed woman, one of the best things I have gotten out of my participation on this board has been the space to interact with, and "get to know", other articulate, thoughtful and cool tattooed women. I adore a lot of folks around here, but being able to connect with other ladies is particularly valuable and enriching, since I think being tattooed is accompanied by some unique stuff for us. So I am really grateful for this space and for everything I've learned from other women in the tattoo world.
