  1. Good morning LST!!! Got back from my Japan trip a week ago but have worked at least 12hrs every day since and have had some family dramas. Did get a promotion though which has been more of a curse than anything lol. But here are 2 little mementos I got while over there and I will post my back in the backpiece thread. I am spewing I didn't make it to Tokyo so hopefully @CaptCanada will still be keen to catch up next time round. I'll do a travel thread when I finally get a day off which will hopefully be Friday! Anyways, lets look at some tattoos ;) First one is what I got from Hiro (Formerly at The CatClaw Tattoo-Z) at his new shop "Swallows Nest Design Work". I was his first international customer lol. Special little Daruma with an inside joke in Japanese  (who'll be the first to figure it out?) Got this on my last night from Horinao at The Catclaw. He had no other customers and I thought why not... well, that and they accepted credit cards which I'd never noticed until then. Quick little Hyottoko - - - Updated - - - Holy large photos Batman! Sorry guys!!

Done by Horinao at The CatClaw Tattoo-Z Kyoto. Believe it or not this was just under 10 hours of tattooing in 2 days (6 first,4 second). So many damn lines!! Its based on one of Kuniyoshi's Suikoden prints - Tameijiro Dan Shogu Some parts didn't hurt anywhere near as bad as I thought then others killed. Granted it was just the outline though ;) - - - Updated - - - And my tattoo has a tattoo, fuck yes.

  3. On Friday I got my oldest daughter a tattoo for her 34th birthday. She already had 2-3 smalls, but now she has a very nicely done side piece.

  8. Josh Stephens, Hold It Down Finally making progress on my arm, really just the rest of the forearm left. Also, this is my first tattoo on this arm not done by Mario Desa or Nick Colella. Super happy with how it came out, if you're in RVA area, I definitely suggest checking out Hold It Down, super solid line up and a cool little shop.

Sh*t!!!! Well if it does, that's just another ass I'll be staring at. @Duffa, are you going to make me stare at yet another man ass?!?! This is starting to become quite disconcerting. All jokes aside that is looking amazing. And as been said it's just the outline too. So all the questions asked previously and I'll raise you a, "will there be background?" And,"black & grey or color?". - - - Updated - - - Man, just have to say all these back pieces being posted in the last few weeks are outstanding! Thank you everyone for sharing.

  14. When I was in Vegas for the APP Conference, my old friend Ron Garza and I decided to get matching 'bro-tats' courtesy of his wife Nakota who tattoos out of Outer Limits. We've known each other since 1995 and have an amazing surreal friendship. Earlier this year one of our good friends (who goes back to 95 with us as well) killed himself, so we decided on Skulls in Party Hats. Little two minute dealies to commemorate our friendship. The "party tats" label was tongue in cheek.

  15. I figured I'd post a couple of in progress pics of my arm/chest. Martin Lacasse at Olde City. All the linework in about 3.5 hours. Sorry for the lousy phone pics. It's based on the Yoshitoshi print attached. The lower samurai is pretty closely referenced, but the severed head on his waist in the print is on the chest panel and he went nuts with the ghost/shadow samurai on the top half of my arm. One session of shading done so far, another in 3 weeks. -Update- Little better photo of the top w/ shading.

  17. I got this about 1½ month ago at Copenhagen Ink Festival :) It's on the upper side of my forearm. Got tattooed by Suzi Powell from Holdfast Tattoo, Perth, Australia. I got a tattoo by her apprentice when I lived in Perth last year, so had to get one by her as well, now that she was in Denmark.

  19. One of the tattoos from the London Trip... photo and tattoo by Stefano C. at Frith Street. Great experience, amazing tattoo, and I got to go back three days later for matching tattoos with my fiancee from Jordan Teear. I'll have photos of those and a full shot of this one when I get home this weekend. p.s.- Thanks to their staff for being patient while I mulled over which shirts I was going to bring back for the homies... as well as telling me how to find Honest Burger. It was too good.

  21. I'm not sure if this link will work but here's a link to a short instagram video of my completed sleeve. It's still healing so some bits are a little bit pink still but it gives a decent idea of what it looks like until I can get some good pictures of it. This was done in five sessions between October and June by Thomas Hooper. Video by graemedwilliams • Instagram

  23. I'm a new poster here, and thought i'd say hi in this thread. My backpiece, finished a couple of months ago, by the amazing Stewart Robson of Frith Street tattoo. It was an absolute pleasure getting this piece, and getting to spend time with such a knowledgeable and insightful guy; an experience I was very lucky to have. Excuse the inlarged instagram pic, it's all I have

  25. Welcome to LST! Solid designs, they're coming along nicely. I like how you showed the process from sketch to finish with the queen. If I may make a couple of suggestions.. Don't be so afraid of the black! It looks GREAT in that owl and the dagger. Black really adds a lot of dimension and depth to a design and it serves as an anchor for the color to pop through. I'm noticing very prudent use of grey in the nautical sheet and in the woman's face and I think if you darkened all of it up, it would look even better. Also, feel free to leave some negative space in the woman's face as well. I've seen people use a solid coat of flesh tone in lady heads and more often than not when it's tattooed, it ends up looking like the lady has a horrible sunburn. But yeah, hope you enjoy the community and keep sharing your paintings with us!

  26. Welcome to LST. I like your artwork. I only saw one thing that threw me off. In your picture of the boat, your main mast does not reach all the way down to the boat. Also, I don't see any masts for your 2 rear sails either. Other than that though, well done and nice to have you around. This really is a great forum.

  27. So true. Don't hate styles you dislike. Just laugh at them with your friends and be an asshole, like I do. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I recently saw a group of people clamouring for a tattoo from this dude they knew. I saw his work and it was bad. Inconsistent lines, shading that looked like it was done with a crayon. Ugh. In the end I found out he was just a kitchen scracther and did them cheap. They wanted them from him because he was cheap. They were EXCITED because he was cheap. They had 0 concern of how unsafe and bad these damn things were. Meh. I didn't say a word. Maybe I'm a dick, but I figured let them get all scratched up. Either they'll learn or just not care. It's not my place to save anyone. I'll help friends and family, but a random group of people too stupid too stupid to see quality, blah, fuck em.

  32. I love the way that healed. I'm used to seeing Marie Sena tattoos as fresh, and unhealed, so I have like this perfect version of it. But when it's healed, and the hair has grown back, etc, you can really see how lovely it is.

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

I did it. I went through all 402 pages of this thread again and some of the old tattoo pictures I remember being stoked on seeing years ago and they still bring a smile to my face. You guys saved an at the time 18 year old kiddo from making horrible life choices. I love you all and I love this forum. Keep on being awesome!

  40. New in the last two weeks: From Heath Nock today during his guest spot at Handcrafted Miami: And the start of my back, a Sailor Jerry remix from Chris Buckholts at Howl Tattoo/Gallery in Fort Myers, Florida. Little bit of a cover up in that. Kinda self conscious about seeing my entire back but whatever you guys are kind.

  45. After five months or so of getting tattooed at a more or less sane pace, this month I seem to be returning to full-on insanity. Filled in the gaps on my chest with a pair of butterflies yesterday by Robert Ryan--I really love my tattoos from him, and I love going out to Electric, even if it means braving New Jersey transit.

I am 100% in agreement with this. My wife says that she can't wait to Aquaphor my back when I start it so that I know how it feels when I do hers, but fuck that shit, I am dry healing.

  49. I think my ridiculous run of tattooing is at an end. After months and months of getting work done, I am getting very close to my wedding and my attention must surely turn towards this most important day. My love would like very much if I wasn't taped up, or wounded, or healing as we head into the home stretch. I am certain she is right. So, I had a couple of little filler tattoos done to largely finish up my right arm sleeve. Look for the dice and the flower above them. It has been a great experience, made all the better by being able to share my tattooing with the great folks here at LST. But, come August, work begins on my collar.

It's hard to get a good picture because of my bulbous glutes. Another session down with Dana and I am so happy. The experience was pretty damn unique. My right side was done first, sometimes it felt light just like he was running a fine tip pen down the back of my leg, barely any pain at all. The butt crack however. Holy bejesus. It sapped my stamina big time trying so hard to not involuntarily flinch. By the time he got to the left side, I was done. Luckily he was fast as hell once we switched sides and it was done in no time at all. It was a real quick 3 hour session. Several flaming asshole jokes were made.
