  1. besides getting tattooed, which is also awesome but that's for a different thread. Just got back from a guest-spot at Godspeed Tattoo in Breckenridge Colorado, where everybody are the friendliest tatbros. Did a early morning/sunrise canoe trip on a mountainside lake, skated at several different skateparks, several mountain trail bike rides, camped out for a few days way high in the mountains with good friends P Wee, Miho, and Joel Long, did some 4 wheeling in a jeep in same area, and had a campfire drawing session with P Wee & Joel. Can't wait to go back.

  4. I finally managed to bust out a razor and clean my leg up for the first time since I got this done back at Ink N' Iron a few months ago. Queen inspired piece done by Steve Byrne. I apologize if the picture is somewhat dim. It was the best shot I could get with my phone.

  6. We have one local shop that does nice work, one long wall in the shop, nothin but flash. And it has those stick-on dots with the price codes on them. Green + B = $300 and so on. Each has a number so they can retrieve the line drawing to cut a stencil. How old school is that? CG

  11. I bitch at my employees all the time about their tattoos, and tell them to cover them up! Hell...they're both my sons, and they've gotten so much beautiful work by Nick Colella that it's a shame to see them pull up in front of our office on their bikes with no shirts on and the sun beating on them.

  15. Prior to getting tattooed in NYC, I totally did the tourist thing of going to the Statue of Liberty. That was a lot of fun. But, Thursday night a bunch of pals and I got together and made guitar pedals using perfboard and following schematics. That was awesome, mostly b/c I cannot solder for shit.

    Hey all!

Hey, I'm Persephone (although I answer to a lot of things, from the first name internetty people will never freakin' pry out of me--not a fan--right down to "hey, chick!" just as long as you make it clear which chick you're talking to). I clearly suck at introductions, but there it is. I'm a fledgling collector from Central Arkansas, which is less painful than some might assume. I have two tattoos: one I decided to get on a whim for my 20th birthday (almost exactly five years ago) at the cheapest shop in town, which will be covered by the back piece I'm starting next month, and one by the artist who will be tattooing said back piece, which not only renewed my desire to wear as much incredible art as possible, but also reminded me how much I love visual art in general. I have a few more big pieces conceptualized and plan to travel for more work when my broke-student budget allows. The internet led me here a few times before I joined and a few more times before my desire to talk tattoos overwhelmed my desire to not talk to anyone, ever. So, yeah. Hi.

  17. Not much better than getting tattooed whilst checking out various tattooers flash sheets on the walls. Been thinking of getting a version of this shaun topper snake v tiger flash with the flash in the back ground as a back piece, I have stared at this for hours during my past tattoo sessions. Tried to post the image but wont let me so the link is there. Da Vinci Tattoo Flash, Tattoo Ink and Tattoo Art

  18. it's not that it's a poorly done tattoo, but it's something that i definitely would not get at this point in time if i could get a redo. it was my second tattoo, so i don't get bummed about it. - - - Updated - - - and to be honest, brad fink wasn't really a cool dude. he was kind of a prick. he made me bring in a picture that he could retrace, pretty much made me feel like a poser because i didn't have any tattoos. fuck that shit.

  28. I don't have any ink that you can see when I'm in a t-shirt really, just the bottom of a wishy-washy black and grey half sleeve. However, I do have stretched lobes and keep my head closely shaven, and feel I get some stares for this at times. My partner and I were eating in a restaurant in Italy and a middle aged woman was openly staring at me for the majority of the time we were there, not even bothering to hide her expression of disdain/disgust/disapproval. It was probably the most uncomfortable I have felt in a social situation. She didn't speak English and I don't speak Italian so I knew of no way to tell her how rude she was being without coming across as a typical "Brit Abroad"... a big part of me wanted to give her a slap and a short, sharp "NO!", just to get my point across but somehow I'm not sure that would have been helpful!! Apart from that I get curiosity and interest from time to time but generally I don't think my 'look' is that interesting or different these days, I blend in with the public majority pretty much. I do think that the more heavily tattooed you become, the more you are inviting stares, but that's cool and to be expected, you are after all making yourself into a walking art gallery, and art is there to be appreciated. I think in the case of the "your body is a temple" brigade I would be more affronted that they thought I gave a fuck what their god thought of what I did to myself. I consider myself a man of science, but I don't go to every crucifix wearing person I see and tell them there is no evidence for religious deities and it causes more problems than it solves (in my opinion). Likewise I feel that we deserve the right to similar courtesy and have an entitlement to NOT have ill informed religious doctrine shoved down our throats.

I like my faded tattoos, honestly I think they look better after they have "baked in" a bit... Though I don't spend a lot of time outside regularly so I'm still fairly pale
