    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

Had Chad K. finish my eagle this past friday night at Congress Street Tattoo in Portsmouth. Love it. So glad it's over.. A brutal couple of hours, but so worth it.

  10. Getting a new tattoo is an awesome way to kill time while you wait! I talked with Jebb Riley and Jason Scott while I was waiting for Chad to setup and eat lunch. Jason was super nice and my Chris O'Donnell sleeve prompted a conversation about art/prints and Timothy Hoyer (apparently he has guested at Congress St in the past). Jebb was also friendly he asked me about some of my tattoos and he showed me his koi/animal head sleeve by Grez. And because it is an intimate space I got to watch Jebb do a few walk in tattoos while I was laying on the table. Great shop and I'd love to get more work done there in the future.

Oh, I agree with you on that. Being less than satisfied would suck. What I meant was that for all my tattoos they are at least 10% different that what I had in mind initially; and as a result I like them even more than I otherwise would have.

  29. If you live in Illinois, I'd absolutely try to make it to GREAT LAKES TATTOO. Literally all of those guys would be able to do a killer cover up on that! Also, you definitely cannot go wrong with a rose coverup. Great choice.

There was one detail not in the stencil because we talked about it right before. Except we weren't exactly on the same page. This was probably my mistake, hindsight 20/20. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

@BrianH That is awesome. It is such a great shop!! Tony is another great one. He started me on my quest for good tattoos after he did the Lacasse snake on my forearm last summer. I love that guy. Did you know he used to be Robert Dinero's personal assistant before he became a tattooer?! Crazy!! Your tattoo from Chad came out amazing!!!

Thank you for all of the kind words!! I am thrilled with how it came out! Chad is such a super cool dude and made the horrific pain a bit more bearable! @BrianH - Yes! Another tattoo! Chad was running late when I showed up for my appt, but Jebb Riley wasn't busy at all, so we started a panther cover up of an old Celtic tattoo on my arm. Just did the line work since minutes after, Chad was ready to roll. A lot of tattooing went down that night. I absolutely love how this is coming out, but am hesitant to post since Jebb hasn't put it up on Instagram yet. Can't wait to finish it. Jebb is an awesome tattooer and I've wanted something from him for a while. He just happened to have an amazing panther in his sketchbook that I fell in love with on the spot.

  39. End Of An Era And The Beginning... - Luke Wessman - Self Made Tattoo Artist There is some cool photos of Dave's shop in San Diego on Luke Wessman's site. There is just one angle of influence he had on tattooing, it's hard to really define what each persons role in history of tattooing is, but Mr Gibson definitely has one. I hear so many different stories about the guy good and bad, but his stuff speaks for itself and his influence is undeniable. Funny when I look at pics I think about how similar our shop looks to that, and then I read I find out there is a good reason for that, Terry Tweed helped him set up that shop. Our shop is not exactly set up like Terry's shop, but our owner spent a whole decade working at Terry's shop, so there is a lot of his influence on how a shop should be set up.

  44. The only people i recognize is Matt Howse, Ms Mikki, The tattoo emporium, A couple shops from around Seattle, and Black Shamrock Tattoo from California. Nobody I couldn't go get tattooed by on any other week, or at the Portland show besides Jack Rudy and Matt and I think Matt is going to tattoo me after the convention in Portland (hopefully).

  46. Just for fun-- I have one more Ive noticed as of late, please stop bringing in your pizza, burritos, hamburger, fries... etc Eat before coming into the shop. I don't want to smell your onions or pick up after you or collect your garbage. Is it just me, or does anyone else find this to be really strange behavior? I don't bring pancakes into the salon when I go to get my hair done. COME ON PEOPLE.

This is what i'm currently working on (unfinished at the moment) It's hand embroidery and paint on fabric. It's going to be a patch for a denim vest. I've also been making what I'm calling embroidered talismans the past week, here's one of them It's also hand sewn and is about2.5"
