  2. I'm going to throw my Bert Grimm special into the mix this month. It's by Tim Pausinger at The Pearl Harbor Gift Shop in Toronto. It may not be the most complex or largest tattoo, but I think Tim really nailed it.

    Upcoming Tattoos

I´ve been chatting with Timothy Hoyer, Brian Bruno and Chris O´Donnell on email, and I am going to NYC/Virginia with @Ninab and our son next autumn. Really looking forward to get tattooed by these guys

  10. Augh, last year I was taking driving lessons (yes I am a little behind!) and as I got into the car for my first lesson, the instructor spotted an early iteration of my back piece peeking out of my shirt, and he started talking about how he had tattoos too, and TOOK OFF HIS SHIRT to show me the piece on his bicep. I was nervous enough about driving for the first time in 15 years as it was! He even looked around beforehand to make sure no one was walking by, because he "didn't want to seem creepy".

    Upcoming Tattoos

Working on my front with my boss tomorrow, and going to place some phone calls this week to see if people are looking to book for the West Texas Tattoo Convention yet... The line up last year was fantastic, and is looking even more insane this time.

  14. Hi, this is my first post. I want to share the tattoos that I got on the London Convention last weekend. Enjoy! Stuart Cripwell - Spider Murphy`s: Frank Carter - Frith Street:

  15. You might cringe at what I'm about to say, but I found that after getting tattooed, I've become less inhibited. If people ask, I have no problems dropping trow to show them the work I have. Of course it wouldn't be in the middle of the aisle at the local Walmart or Best Buy. But if its at the tattoo shop, at my home or someone else's home, full monty is no problem, hahaha

  16. That book is awesome. I just picked a copy of it up yesterday after my appointment with Horitomo. Definitely worth the $20.

  17. And here is my entry for this month, my 'Tamatori-Hime' sleeve (the one with the octopus ) that we finished today (with a bit brutal 5 hour session. This sleeve (and my other sleeve) are made by Bonel from Corazon Santo tattoo studio in Arnhem, The Netherlands.

  19. Sorry for the delay in the photos. I had Nic snap some on Saturday before he got to work on the color. The photos of the color work were taken after I took the cover off and washed all the plasma off my arm. It took Nic about 4 hours to do all the coloring you see in the photos. And here are images from the game itself: For those unfamiliar with the game, the protagonist enter a derelict ship with no power about halfway through. Upon killing Phantoon, the ship's power is restored. I wanted the tattoo to look like the moment when Samus first discovers Phantoon emerging through a dark aura haunted by the spirits of the slain crew.

  20. True that part, but I especially hate it when people actually try to pull up my shirt to see my back or pull it up to show someone else my tattoos. Sometimes, I'm not even part of the group conversation when someone's tried to lift up my shirt. Then they get pissed off at me when I whirl around glaring. WTF!

  21. Years ago during college I was working at Home Goods stocking items and this (seemingly un-tattooed) customer spots my foot tattoo and starts a discussion on tattoos/BLATANTLY hitting on me. Out of nowhere (without me asking) he shows me this god awful hip tattoo which in order to show me he has to fold and pull down his jeans a bit. I saw like the side of his dick and was not enthused !!!! Ugh I don't understand the need to strip to show off your tattoos. If you want to be all badass then get them where they show... I never indulge people who want to see them if it means I have to bare part of my body that is normally covered up.

Do you have any tattoos? This is a safe space; feel free to share photos of them here. If you don't have any tattoos, then your blog makes very little sense to me. Feel free to prove me wrong.

    Old tattoo photos

I spoke with an old Korean/Vietnam Veteran for about 10 minutes at my work today about tattoos. He said he got these down at The Pike 51 years ago, but couldn't remember the exact artist who did them.

  29. I knew my mother wouldn't like my feet but apparently I've "ruined" them... I just think I made them prettier :D My cousin asked "why?" to which I replied "why not?" Just watch, one day I'll get a sleeve then go and visit my family across the country without telling them :p

  30. The intro-class went very well. I'm going to sign up for the 9 session beginner course to learn all the fundamental lifts and movements in November. I would do the October course but I have a tattoo appointment next week that would side line me for a week for healing.

  31. I started crossfit last feb - I love it!! And I also researched and visited a couple of places to vet the trainers and make sure they knew what they were doing before signing up. I'd heard a lot of horror stories and didn't want to put myself in a bad situation where I would be guaranteed injury or repeated bad programming. I had a 3 month break that due to a foot injury (fell down the stairs walking the dog early morning, doh!) and then some tattoo healing I needed to get out of the way :p. I just started again last week and it feels so good! In a barely walking sorta way ;). I'm also - and I think I it was a post from @hogg where I first learned this term - a "paleotard" :p. but not aggro about it! Clean eating feels good. (+1 for clean bulk!). Anyway. Hope you're having an awesome experience. My box (ahahahaha) offers other classes in addition to straight crossfit, which is a nice bonus and a good indicator that they haven't drank the straight crossfit kool aid. Which is a good thing! I visited a box in OK that was like one big injury-inducing warning system. (I did NOT work out there). If you feel like nerding out...you have a friend in me!

  39. I just pressure cooked my first whole chicken. I browned it on all sides, then added celery, carrots, onions, 1 cup of stock, star anise, and fresh oregano, thyme, and rosemary. I then put the lid on and 25 minutes later I removed a chicken dripping with juices and tender beyond all imagination. Just before doing that, I diced a butternut squash, apples, and onions. I put them in a bowl with kosher salt, pepper, and olive oil. I popped that in the oven for 35-40 minutes and it was ready at the same time as my chicken. All said and done, I was able to do the entire meal, from prep to plate in about an hour. Awesome.

  44. We went to this Irezumi art opening in Hollywood Thursday night. https://www.facebook.com/irezumiartshow Saw some great art there from the likes of Stewart Robson, Tim Lehi, Mike Rubendall, etc., etc. Bob Roberts and Oliver Peck were there. Corey Miller's band played and we met him as he was bringing stuff to the stage. Our little 5 yr old excitedly told him that she's going to be Sleeping Beauty for Halloween. He seemed impressed. Sweet guy.

  45. First, quit doing what you're doing. Throw any remaining needles or ink you have in the trash. Second, get tattooed for years. Third, hope someone give you a chance. Fourth, as much as no one wants to hear it, and no one really listens to it, the best sentiment as to why it's hard to get a chance is something Valerie Vargas said in an interview recently: "Just because you want to tattoo, doesn't mean you should tattoo." You have to prove to someone they can trust you to not waste their time, and your approach does the exact opposite of that.
