I met a girl, we talked tattoos, she's from az, shows me her legs done by roper, says they're friends and she can text him and give me a referral. Looks like I'm saving some money and flying to Arizona sometime this year. !!!! Also naturally me and this girl have been seeing each other. Life is cool sometimes.

  4. Got this from Horimatsu in October. It was a great experience, he is such an awesome dude with some pretty cool stories to tell. Also I got this cattoo on a caturday so I kind of won the internet that day :D edit: can't figure out why the picture is all wonky but if one clicks it again for full size it looks like it is supposed to... edit2: oh, and it's located on the outside of the calf.

  7. Congrats, Bunny! I imagine finally getting that tattoo after seven years of waiting is a very satisfying feeling. Greg and I didn't get to two tattoos last night, since we got an unavoidable late start. We did go with the creepy Lo Pan hand holding a dragon that we were joking about the last time I was there. It's pretty much all a result of talking about Big Trouble in Little China with he and his coworker when I was the last one in the shop on my last appointment.

  12. Really? A beautiful back and grey sleeve won this summer, and several of the most active posters here get mostly or exclusively black and grey tattoos, though not necessarily in the style of the Jun Cha sleeve above. There's a slant towards color traditional, but to say that the forum has "little appreciation for B&G" doesn't seem right - there are definitely folks on here who are knowledgeable about Chicano tattooing, among other styles. There is a huge repository of info. on different traditions here if you dig around! Not trying to pick a fight, just scratching my head a bit.

    Intro post

Welcome! I'm sorry your first tattoo experience was a bad one. I'm sure there are people here with better knowledge of tattoo artists in your area than I have, but the first person who came to mind is Brenda Flatmo in Cincinnati.

Cost depends on the artist, and you'd certainly have to consult with him/her specifically to get a true indication. We can help find you a competent artist - so where do you live?

What was going to be a small banger to palm size tattoo.....turned into this........ Due to a lot of weight loss....I do have a roll on my side.....Scott used the fact that I have this and made it so the mouth opens and closes.....LMAO! Very fresh photos....sorry the photos isn't better!

Sorry no pics. I got a chance to look through a pile of Dana's secret stash of Roper pics, some are pretty good. I also got a chance to scroll through Bloodwork Bodies. Man, that book is amazing. The green dragon is in the book, I had to steal a clean pic for you guys. Not to mention it was good to catch a glance at @hogg's ass on more time.

    Why skull figures?

Am I understanding that your question isn't why are there so many drawings of skulls, but why do they have actual skulls or models of such on display in shops? One reason of course would be, as everyone pointed out, that they're cool. Another thing could be for drawing reference, if you have the actual item you can pose it in any angle you want and draw from it as a whole reference, using books or the internet as a reference can only give you so many angles, and maybe you don't want a 3/4 perspective, just a little off from that or whatever. With the actual item in hand you can angle it exactly how you're imagining and get it detailed just so.

  35. There's nothing wrong with going to different artists for different tattoos. That's how most of us here get tattooed. With that said, I'd suggest reading this thread before committing to a lace tattoo. I think there are ways in which you could take the inspiration from lace and make a nice tattoo out of it, but looking at that link you provided, a lot of those tattoos are going to be a total mess in a few years.
