Funny if I want to find source material for a tattoo the last thing I would look at is some bullshit flash web site. Most of the stuff is drawn on the computer and isn't even tattooable, not to mention the designs are horrible. I usually find non tattoo related reference if I am looking to get a tattoo drawn for me. If I want a particular bird or flower tattooed on me, I would find a book that has some good illustrations or photographs of them, or maybe just run the idea by the tattooer see if they already have the necessary reference material or even need it. Paying for a tattoo design on the internet is about as stupid as paying for porn on the internet.

  10. ok, this might sound like I'm a prick. (once again.)(the first time i was being a prick though, lol) Anyway, maybe, you should put this in a thread about tattoos that you don't care for. These examples you've given seem to be solid tattoos. I don't really care for the style, but as for the technical ability of these artist, I feel it is at the complete opposite end of the spectrum as the artists that were originally posted in this thread. Just a thought.

  12. Wondered if I was the only dinosaur! - - - Updated - - - Actually, I hate both of them, but it makes no difference who wins or loses, the real power isn't in the President, and the partei's are just two sides of the same coin. The ONLY way to get this Nation back to it's original state of being by the people, for the people, is to topple the two-partei system and replace the corrupt federal oligarchy with the Constitutional Republic that was founded and intended by our forefather. Abortion, immigration, hoplophobia, race, these are all just social-constructs used by the Mandarin class to keep the serfs divided and occupied. "And what country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas Jefferson, writing to William Stevens Smith in 1787. And just as true today.

  16. So I love these threads on other enthusiast sites I frequent. I wanna get one going for us here at LST. ...when you have white sheets that are now multi-colored ...when you heard the word sailor and don't think of ships ...when the smell of green soap and buzzing makes you excited ...you vacations are planned around what shops are in the area what ones you guys got?

Gonna mention Owen Williams. Excellent at jap stuff, and a well-rounded tattooer for sure. I'd get something from him if I was able to/still had enough room left. Owen Williams and Trevor of course. That's a no-brainer win.

  22. @CultExciter I firmly believe we need to disagree to move things forward though we need to disagree in a manner that is respectful and productive not stuck in a win/loss mentality. Or a my way or the highway pathology. Negotiation and the ability to have a difficult conversation are life skills that are very attractive. The ability to keep ones cool and sit in the uncomfortableness of difference knowing the other is not attacking you so calm your anxiety and realize we've all got lacks. No need to push your agenda but please do tell me about it. Just my general thoughts

  23. I'm a fan of politics, talk them everyday, and they impact my work though we should probably stay away from politics as much as possible on this tattoo forum. We have seen the most minor stuff set someone off and the forum moves from its purpose. Unfortunately this thread would probably end up getting heated, then the most traffic though people will say they hate drama, and tattoos will get neglected

    Dragons!!!

I have recently become obsessed with this sheet of E.C. Kidd flash (from 1912! 100 years old!!!) which I believe is from the Hardy book Flash from the Past, and am very seriously considering getting one of the beautiful dragons off of it. Love love love everything about them.

  40. Haha, you're probably right. I was more interested in the breakdown of the debates and the conversations that stem from human perception of win/loss. I too have removed a few tattooers from FB. I guess this is my overarching feeling then. I am not trying to pull in any Rodney King (RIP) "Why can't we all get along?" fustian. It seems we all wince at the idea of discussing because of the idea of community, and the disrupt it causes. People do tend to blow things out of proportion and reject the actual conversation. I like disagreeing. I like knowing how others feel, because it reminds me that I am my own person, and it's totally A-OK to not have the same views as anyone else. Fuck it, I need to get tattooed.

  41. I've stopped "subscribing" to certain old tattooers on FB because of their political rants.. I don't know about making it a hard-and-fast rule on LST about "no politics" but it's not a bad idea..?

  46. This thread has bummed me out for awhile, not because of the tattoos but moreso because it isn't elevating tattooing. Its not educating. I don't think anyone would tell their friends/peers/etc about all the worst restaurants in the area if they wanted to answer the question of "what's you favorite place to eat". Nobody would post links to the worst web design or the crappiest album that they're not listening to...I guess I just don't get it. I'm not saying that I haven't fallen victim to it but I think everyone here is above the level of seeking out amatuer efforts for the purposes of entertainment. I could perhaps, be suffering from the overwhelming negativity of political ads as well as the endless amount of "opinions" and "critisisms" that is the internet. If people put as much effort in doing the good and sharing positivity, we'd all be better people for it.

  48. I got my last one a couple of days ago from Alvaro Llorar, who is now working out of Barcelona Electric Tattoo (in Barcelona, obviously). Awesome work, very creative and a good balance of different styles. His paintings are unreal too. Clicking on his name links you to his blog, but it hasn't been updated in months, I guess his FB has more recent stuff.
