  5. Ah what, the hell, I'll give this a try this month. This was done by Thomas Hooper in five sessions between October 2012 and June 2013, mostly at Saved but with one session at the Rochester Convention:

  9. Got my tattoo artists son a Predator metalworks figure, which was bad ass. I ended up chilling at the shop and he got bored and gave me this bad ass traditional wolf in party mode. Love it. Skylar G! Gotta love that he locked the doors and let me blaze up while he did this. Such a chill guy.

  12. Haha. IF he has a wife. Just 'coz you know how to post a pic of a pretty lady and say she's your wife doesn't mean it necessarily is... Sometimes it's hard to tell if it's a troll or not. In this case I could not tell.

    Thanks!

Hi there, Been lurking on the site for some time now and just wanted to say thanks. Mining through the archives of the forum has yielded a ton of excellent information and exposed me to so many new (to me) artists. All the regulars of this community that strive to get the word out on good tattoos should know they've made a big impact on a lot of us out there. So, thanks! And keep rocking killer tattoos!

    Hello LST!

Hello LST, I'm Chris and I'm from Sacto, CA. I got my first tattoo in 92 or 93 at American Graffiti by Eric Hogan (RIP). From that point on I was hooked! Scott Sylvia gave me my 2nd one at the same location. I first met Scott and Eric when I was a little punk kid in S.F. at an A.A. convention. I had no tattoos at the time and was so impressed with these older guys that were covered. I tried to get them to work on me at the time, but to no avail. Thanks for that, given my age who knows what I'd have ended up with. Luckily a couple years later they were working in my home town and I was finally able to get some ink. I didn't really know what to say in the intro, I'm not too good at talking or writing about myself. I'm grateful to be a part of this community and look forward to being a member for a long, long time! Thanks, -C

  21. According to my work's dress code I'm not supposed to have visible tattoos, long hair, or a beard, and I think going shirtless all the time would probably raise too many questions about the other stuff...so shirts are kind of practical at this point in my life.

hahahaha I do that to my husband all the time-"you wanna mess w/THIS?? Really?" One day during lunch, some of the little boys were flexing their arms and giggling when I'd touch and go oooo what big muscles! So then I flexed and they were giggling and then stopped..."Miss Missi, your arm feels funny" hahahaha

  24. One of the best ways to deal with not being totally satisfied with your tattoos, or being nitpicky about them or whatever is to get more tattoos.

Grats to you for sticking to it and listening. Met with the criticism you could have thrown a bunch of attitude back or run away crying to the Dominican republic. Life isn't traveled on only one rail and being able to switch tracks to get to your destination will serve you well

I laughed at the 'as shop owners, we can make it work with any client" bullshit. Something makes me think any of the three of them (not lady face) would throw a customer that annoying/demanding out in no time flat.

  36. My grandmother and I were chatting yesterday. She's 90 years old and is one of the most important people in the world to me. Well, we were talking about life, work, and how my apprenticeship is going. She looks at me and asks "Would you tattoo me? Right here, a big butterfly, and you can use this mole as the head of the butterfly." I'm still grinning over that.

  40. I just heard from Dave about a week or so ago and he said a friend just opened a shop in Stockton about 45 minutes from him...and they were treating him very well there! I am guessing this is the shop you saw him at! Who is Dave Gibson huh??? I had to chuckle a little but I can understand how some people might not know who he is now! Dave gave me a list about 8 years ago.....I asked him for a list of tattoo artists that had 40+ years in the craft that did solid work and he gave me a list of world class artists! I have been chipping away at that list ever since adding as many of these people's work to my body as I can! I owe Dave.....he really is partially responsible for a lot of the wonderful tattoo artists I have met over the last 8 years! Debra Yarian and Debbie Lenz were on that list and I was tattooed by both of those ladies two weeks ago during my trip to Ohio..... Yeah.....you met a legend in the craft! He seemed like he was going to retire and stop tattooing.....I've been on him about not stopping....and I was stoked when he said he was working a day a week again in that shop! Definitely go get something from him while it is still an option! And please tell him I said hello if you would! :) Here are a couple acetates Dave sent me a while back!

since youre already into it might as well keep on going with learning. pig skin is a joke and contracts are as well. just learn what you can and if your art is worth a shit you will probably be pretty good... i hope. A dude that i work with got started the same way as you are at this little custom shop that we are bot hin now.. not having any tattoos.. he has been learning for 3 years now and is just starting to get pretty descent.. but its not a walk in place and he doent get to do the important stuff like script as much as he should.. good luck on becoming an ill custom tattooer.
