  1. This weekend I learnt that 3 sessions in 2 days is a bit too much for me, I was absolutely wiped out. Regret nothing though, I got (surprise) tattooed by one of my absolute favourite artists, Dan Sinnes. I was sitting next to Eilin too - didnt realise till afterwards though, I'm not smart. Also got a piece from Chriss Dettmer, which is swollen beyond picture capabilities right now, and Jess Yen, which is wrapped in Saniderm and looks mental right now. Pictures later, I promise. Great to see Youthcrewalex too, hope you had a great weekend buddy!

That moth's rad man! I just got one myself 3 weeks ago as well. It's kind of a 2 part piece because it wraps around. I don't think I posted a pic of my moth yet either so i'll include it as well lol.

  12. I'm not in a rush, and I'm more than willing to wait and save room for specific tattoos from specific tattooers that I want, but it is addicting, isn't it? I was ok with having just two tattoos for seven, eight years, but once I became rally interested in tattoos, I've gotten them much more frequently. As far as big vs small, I think for me back, ribs, and thighs will be my big pieces. I totally appreciate sleeves and body suits, but to me it takes away from the stupidity and vulgarity of tattooing, which is what I like about it.

  15. My latest is only a few hours old. Is this the first LST-themed tattoo? If it is, I also know who got the second (only moments after me): Courtesy of Mr. @Scott Sylvia himself. PS Like this or feel the ban hammer.

    Hey

Hey, just made an account earlier today and I guess I have to post an intro lol. I've only recently got my first tattoo, after having the idea of it for about 3 years. From 2008-2010 I went through Leukemia treatments, so that is why I got the Orange ribbon in this tattoo. The heads still need to be shaded, this was just after my first sitting.

    Worried about tattoo

See your artist. Did they give you after-care instructions? All of the after-care instructions I've seen say no bath for at least two weeks. What cream did you use? Most after-care instructions indicate washing the tattoo a couple of times a day followed by a very thin layer of something like A&D ointment. The less you do to it the better off you are; for the most part let your body heal itself.

Oh I had a really difficult time deciding, because I felt I'd be a fool to not get a panther or tiger from him, and I was also really drawn to the weirder stuff he does, but I'm going to get an eagle or hawk on a rock in green waves.

  31. I think that you pose an interesting question. When I started getting tattooed about 6.5 years ago it was a one at a time, semi spontaneous thing. As I got more informed and interested I started collecting more quickly. I wanted to finish my sleeve, and when I traveled I would get multiple tattoos each trip. After finishing my right arm and my chest, people around me (mostly plain skins) started to mention that I seemed to be rushing things. I decided to take a break for the year 2013. I was really doing well at resisting temptation until I found out the Chad the traveling tattooer Koeplinger would be in town. I couldn't pass that up. So now I'm booked for Feb as well. I would like to get tattooed twice a year, one bigger or a couple of smaller pieces. As to placement, well that's my new obsession. Do I go for something big and cohesive, such as a squid pant leg, or keep with the small traditional style? It's fun to think about, and I can only say for sure how it will play out as I get more work done.

  33. There are plenty of people I missed getting tattooed by because of when I got into it. There will be plenty of people I'd love to get tattooed by but won't because I won't have space or won't be into getting tattooed anymore or whatever. That's life.

    Full Back Piece Thread

This one was done by Dave Cummings in seven sessions over two months. So yeah, it need not take years. I don't think I have the ability to be tattooed that much in that short a time period though.

Criminal. Thinking about it some more I probably won't tattoo my feet because for a long time I've wanted Jondix or Hooper to do them and it would be a shame to just get them tattooed with whatever now just because it's convenient.

    Houston Shops

Nate Beavers imo is about the best it gets in town and he can nail pretty much any style especially roses. However hes hard to get in with sometimes due to popular demand. He doesnt work in a store front youd be best emailing him at [email protected] . Scorpion is a great shop with a lot of history just been a while and havent seen who all still works there. If you are just wanting to walk in a shop theres Scorpion as well as Los Muertos, Red Dagger(which has a lot of killer artists), Artistic Impressions, Rose & Anchor, and Advent Tattoo just to name a few. Research the artists if you're looking for realism or traditional etc see whos best at it and go with them. If it were me Id wait it out and go to Nate though.

    Knee Tattoooo

I'm finding that it's easier to walk the day after a knee cap tattoo than the day after a knee ditch tattoo. Horitaka once told me not to do both of my knee ditches the same day, because then I wouldn't be able to limp. He is a wise man.

    Re-wrapping tattoos

Moisturising scabs has caused me the most problems in my healing. It's the main reason why I do as little as possible to my tattoos other than keeping them clean. My wife says that this is a guy thing because I don't really take good care of my skin unless I have a fresh tattoo on it so I overmoisturise because I don't have a sense of the right amount of lotion to use. So now I've gone to the opposite extreme and I do nothing to them other than washing and keeping them wrapped for the first couple of days, and I've had much better luck with healing. And yeah, for me keeping the wrap on overnight and rewrapping the next day after washing has prevented the thick scabs from forming. I had some still in my ditch on the last session on my sleeve, but that's the ditch and I don't think there's any way of healing that spot nicely.

    Re-wrapping tattoos

I read an earlier post of mine in this thread, where I mentioned using bepanthen for a few days early in the healing process... How times change, I wouldn't touch the stuff these days.
