Some progress on my Marius Meyer back

My wife and I did our honeymoon in Stockholm and then Copenhagen a few weeks ago, and while in Copenhagen we both got tattooed by Henric Nielsen at The Sailor's Grave. They do a walk-in Saturday where Henric paints up new flash each week. I got this mandala flower on my left forearm and my wife got a lady head in profile with butterfly wings. It's a really nice shop, and Henric is a hell of a guy. Marija Ripley was also really nice and recommended a pretty great restaurant on the same street as our hotel. Next up...to try and book in with Steve Boltz and maybe get something from Ashley Love.

Update: appointments with Stefano C. and Jordan Teear are made. No way out now...

That is a beautiful fish! Currently have 3 running tanks: 5 gallon that contains a red cambodian double tail betta and zebra nerite snail as well as various live aquatic plants 60 gallon that currently contains 2 young blood parrot cichlids 7 neon tetra (there were 12 but are being eaten by the parrots. They were bought as dither fish anyway) and one L240 vampire Plecostomus 3 gallon which is currently home to two baby (about 1 in.) electric blue Jack Dempseys. This is just a growing tank until they are about 2-2.5 inches and then will be moved into the 60 gal with the other cichlids. below are pics of the chiclids and the pleco.

Weird, been seeing a handful of these pop up lately. Last time I was at King's Ave in the city Grez was doing a pair on a guy.

Only healed two simultaneously a few times. Such a pain.. Were you getting multiple tattoos done at conventions or just makin' it raaaaiiin when you stopped by the tattoo shop??

On a family trip to the states I had organised an appointment with Tomas Garcia at Sid's in Santa Ana. While we were at the shop my mum, dad and little sister all got spontaneous tattoos from the other guys while they weren't busy. So cool having a family who digs tattoos!

My wife just started her backpiece. Snake with peonies. I'll post some pics later if she lets me!

Watched this earlier. Mario is so rad. The brief tattoo I received from him was such a good tattoo experience.

The funniest part of my recent trip to NYC was when Mike Rubendall introduced himself to me. "Hey man, I'm Mike." I had to stop myself from getting all star struck and saying, "Uh, yeah dude, I know." I cannot stress enough how everyone at Kings Ave is so completely genuine and polite.

You're talking about this with your artist, which is what you should be doing. Soliciting advice from complete strangers on the internet is weird, and quite frankly, if you need to do that you probably shouldn't be getting tattooed anyway.

don't ask us. ask the tattoo artist. if you don't have an artist picked out we can probably make some suggestions based on where you are located.

So excited! We were not planning on going and then a twist of fate just confirmed that we'll be there. If anyone wants to meet up, the Friday evening would definitely be best for us, but we're flexible. Let's do this.

One day perhaps! I'm excited for this convention because there will be so many amazing tattooers at it.

I see some shops with a $100 minimum charge, which is fair as there are new needles, things to be sterilized, sundry shop supplies that get consumed, etc. And it all takes time. Rob

If anybody was maybe a little bit hesitant about going, they just announced that Filip Leu and the Leu Family Iron are going to be attending this year. I am super excited for this!

That stuff is all really nice. It's unfortunately a bit expensive for me right now (I think the prices are totally reasonable for limited editions, it's just that I'm spending all my money on tattoos at the moment) but I would love to own something that Raking Lights prints eventually. @Pugilist got lucky and got a set of those four recently released Horitomo cat prints, which we will add to the two I bought from Tattoo Elite International. We're going to have a wall of all Horitomo cats.

I think we need 2 contests per month. A large piece contest and a small piece contest.

I had a whole bunch going at once there for awhile... I definitely noticed that each subsequent tattoo was taking longer and longer to heal. And that the day after was getting harder and harder on each one. I've been on a little break here for the past couple months. It looks like my break will be ending soon though and I'll be healing multiple tattoos again :D

I do that all the time, feels more authentic to me- plan a few big pieces, have fun with the rest

I was in the city with my wife and sis-in-law this past Sunday and one of them wanted to hit a bar before we went home. I said "i know a bar around the corner, we're not too far from Kings Ave. so i know the area a bit". That led to "hey lets go there, i want to ask about an idea i have" from my untatttooed sis-in-law. Long story short, i wound up getting a sparrow just because one of the guys i've already worked with wasn't doing anything. She chickened out. And Oliver Peck was there! After 5 hours of eating, shopping and wandering around, that little impromput visit was the best part of the day. And then we hit a bar anyways. :p

Hahaha when the hell did you post this? Also funny because the next day you seemed so surprised that you did, indeed, feel hungover.

Dan had a band before "Reptile House" called "Red Guard Youth." I went to school with he and his brother, he helped me open my eyes to the whole world of punk rock. He and his brother are Great artists. Thanks for posting the photos.

Yesterday the rain in Philly was crazy and my jeans got soaked commuting in. So I spent three hours at work in my underwear. Dealing with vendors. USPS. Staff. I was going to put a tie on, but that would have been weird. Random musings.

I really dig the variations I've seen of the Russian prison epaulette tattoo handled in a more traditional manner . This one is by Rudy Fritsch who does great tattoos in a very distinctive style . Rudy Fritsch Original Classic Tattoo

Ive got several homemade handpokes, they were all done by 'real' artists though, some in my house, some not haha

they don't. everyone in norway is totally criminal so they can survive. you see senior citizens mugging tourists during summer and such. ooor maybe they make enough money so the prices doesn't bother them as much as us others visiting.

I apoligize if this is a repeat, but this is a pretty damn cool Higgs pictures I found surfing on that internet thing. With the late Sonny Tufts and Jack Dracula.

Tomas Garcia has two original paintings by Higgs done at tattoo city in '91 hanging up in his station at Sid's tattoo parlor. They were super cool!
