The Horitoshi documentary is fantastic. I got it a few years ago on DVD. You can get it here: LA VOIE DE L'ENCRE Lardux Boutique In terms of which Traditional Japanese artists I like the most it's kind of like trying to pick your favorite sweet in a candy store. Obviously Horiyoshi III is very high but I feel that kind of goes without saying. Beyond him I love the work of Horiyasu. The black that he gets is so dark and smooth and the colors are incredibly vibrant to go with it. Horitoshi is obviously very good as well. I would also mention Horimasa from Isesaki. He did a phoenix on my lower right leg a couple of years ago at the Brighton Tattoo Convention. He worked incredibly quickly and produced an amazing piece. I am thinking about getting something else big from him in the future but that depends on time and money. This is the phoenix I got though.

  6. Hi everyone! I am currently in the UK where I am from, getting some new ink done, but have been living in the UAE for 2 years. It's certainly an interesting experience having tattoos and living in the middle east  I'm a big fan of traditional Japanese tattooing, I prefer the more simplistic designs than the the modern style. No better tattoos than well done simple Japanese designs in my opinion but I cant appreciate any kind of cool art. Anyway that's me. Here is what I am getting done at the moment, my outer thigh started. 'Tsuru Kame' 3 hours in line work finished and a small part shaded. Will eventually extend to a full leg with another auspicious animal, maybe a Kirin.

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

By WT Norbert today. Its a bit bloody in these pics. Saw Chad Koeplinger at the shop, if I knew he was in town I'd have booked in with him too! Bummed by a missed opportunity there.

It was posted here four days ago. You have been spending too much time getting tattooed and not enough time on the internet. Get your priorities straight.

    The Tattoo News

General tattoo news that's worth sharing, but doesn't necessarily fit in any of the existing threads (or deserve a new one) Like this... I checked out Black Heart's official website/blog today, and was suprised to see that it had gotten a big overhaul since I last visited. It looks really nice, and it had some pictures of tattoos that I had never seen before. Check it out: Black Heart Tattoo |Black Heart Tattoo | » Bad Ass Tattooery | Bad Ass Tattooery

New Guy in the middle east!

In general, not a problem, most people are curious and will give you a thumbs up. I have had a few people touch my tattoos without warning which is something you might have to be aware of. Emirati people are cool and friendly, but there are some more traditional people who have never seen a Caucasian person before, let alone one with tattoos. I prefer to cover up in the airport, but out and about in malls ect, its no big deal to have some ink showing as long as it's not offensive.

  18. Hahaha! I'm the one who gave those to garver! I'm happy to see he's giving them out and spreading the word. @slayer9019 buy them from ebay. I found it to be the cheapest site. I usually pick up the 4X4 size. I think 50 sheets is like 25 dollars. @Bigboy67 the healing is going well ? I see that most of the peeling is gone and it just looks kinda dry. Far from the scaly peeling which i usually get from regular aftercare.

    Thighs Thighs Thighs!!!

I got both my thighs tattooed this year by Ade Stacey at Nine Tattoo in Brighton. Awesome guy and I love the pieces that he did for me. Baku on one side and Kirin on the other. Something a bit different. The picture of the Baku has come from Ade's own website as you might have guessed from the water mark. In terms of the twitching I got a bit of that towards the bottom of the muscle near the knee but otherwise it wasn't too bad for 5hours+ of tattooing each time.

    Hi everybody!

Welcome. The best thing you can do if you want a coverup is to find an artist and talk to him or her about it. Do you have any idea of what you're interested in stylistically? If you let us know where you live we can suggest some good artists around you.

    Thank you

Such a beautiful shop and wonderful tattoo family. I really felt right at home. I got tattooed and did a couple of small tattoos there too. I would say it is one of the nicest shops that i've ever seen - that looks like what I think a tattoo shop should look like.

  38. Awesome stuff, everyone (as usual). El Monga added this to my leg today! Picture stolen from his Instagram. I'm now realizing that I never posted a picture of the last one he did on me, because it wraps and I can't seem to get a good picture of it. I'll try to do that soon.

  44. I guess this is probably a bad month to enter given how great the tattoos posted so far are. But I see that as a good thing, it just means more people are out getting great tattoos. Anyways, I've already posted this in he latest tattoo lowdown, but here it is: Phil Hatchet Yau at Tahiti Felix's Master Tattoo, 4 hours, one-shot:

  45. Well thankfully I went with the advice from all the veterans here. I chose to use Nick Colella. I posted this elsewhere but wanted to keep my progress all in one thread. The pictures below are where I am at and go for color on October 25th. I am so excited I can't wait. I do have one dilemma, I am not sure if I should try to get one more image in the spot between the racing flag and dogs ear in the last picture. I don't really have anything else in mind for this arm and looked at daggers, roses etc and don't think they will mesh will the other tattoos on my arm. I plan n asking Nick his opinion too. When I left, we planned on 2 more sessions. One for color the other for filler. So I have to decide fairly quickly what to do. Picture before last is the filler I planned on asking for. Thanks again guys, great advice! Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk 2

  46. Living in London, I'm pretty fortunate to have Frith St (and all the amazing artists that come through that shop) near by, add in The Family Business and Into You as well and it'd be pretty difficult to stick to just one artist. Having said that, I can see myself landing up with a lot more work by Valerie than anyone else, provided I can get in fairly regularly. I guess it's partly because I'm into the aesthetic of lots of individual pieces next to each other, I can see how it's a different ball game if you're getting large Japanese work.

  47. I say just laugh it off. Probably half the time the people are thinking about that tattoo they wanted when they were young and did not get. So they are just envious of yours. When My wife and I go to the public pool I always come out after her so I have to gaze around till I see her, every time I always think to myself, man why are these people looking at me. Then I remember I have a crap load of tattoos. The stares are funny. Get used to them and laugh.

  48. The Bible does say you should not mark your skin. Next time tell them it also says "Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned," "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." and "Why do you see the speck in your neighbor's eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye?" These hypocrites only read the part of the bible that allows them to be judgmental blowhards. As to the stares, I'm 6'2" 195 with hair halfway down my back. I stare back :-)

    Possibly Dumb Question

I'm lucky, I guess. My Girl who I've been with for the last 9 years is a total pinky who just happens to think heavily tattooed men look sexy. My arms are covered in skulls, smoke, spiderwebs, demons, a reaper, dice and cards, razor, dragons, and a couple of cats (and the number 13). I never gave much thought as to how other people would think of me due to the imagery, I just got what I wanted, but the way I look has allowed me (and her by proxy) to live a very shit-free life.

  50. My cover up went from this: to this: Because the original tattoo had a lot of black in it, and colours all over the place, I honestly had no idea if it would work out but figured I'd ask anyway. I am pretty farkin happy to say the least!!! (and yes that is Venom lol)
