Is "foul" some kind of Toronto-only slang for "awesome" that I'm not aware of? I was seriously thinking of attending Montreal in 2014 anyway (really wish I'd gone this year) but if there's any way I could be included in attempting to eat this I would be way in. When I saw the poutine my initial thought was that I would need the assistance of three others to eat it - maybe only two if they were accomplished eaters or if I was really hungry. Also - when I was watching the video and the timer was at the 12 minute mark I thought it was counting down from an hour. Can you believe how fast that guy put the first three quarters of that poutine away!?!

    Best post tattoo care?

Thanks guys. Couldn't sleep last night. I kept looking at it and thinking I should of used the tegaderm like I planned. I go back for filler on the 19th so if any touch ups are needed I can do it then. Looks like I will use tegaderm from here on out to prevent this mess. I still have no idea why I scabbed so terribly when the other 5 remained smooth and just have peeled with no scabbing. I am keeping my fingers crossed cause right now it looks like everything is mush. Sent from my KFTT using Tapatalk HD

    Upcoming Tattoos

Just checked out your back piece, looks great, I look forward to seeing the pictures later. I got 3 hours on my crane and turtle thigh piece on Wednesday, will hopefully finish all the background. Then back again 2 weeks after to finish that portion of my leg with the colour.

You should absolutely come to the 2014 convention, and we can do a LST poutine meetup again. I am not sure about the Crise Cardiaque though. That guy makes it look almost easy but I have had trouble waddling out of that place after one of their poutines, so a good share of fifteen pounds of it might be too much for me.

  19. Lots of "tattoo ego" on the line -- artists and customers, alike. If you get an "original" piece (at least, you hope it is), then you have the satisfaction of being the first to have it (like being the "index case" in a disease); if you get a copy of that piece, well, it's a copy (like that Ben Shahn print, or Annie Liebowitz photo hanging on your wall) -- you like it, it wasn't free, and you don't/can't claim it's the original. So, what's the problem? Don't we say "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"? And maybe -- just maybe -- successive iterations of the design will [gasp!] be better than the original, introduce changes in it, or adapt it for customer differences (color preference, skin color, etc.). I prefer to save any ire for remakes of Hollywood movies or TV shows (where the remake is rarely as good as the original). YMMV.

    Book thread

Loved the Mayfair Witches-read it many years ago, one of those series you just don't want to put down, or to end. Aaaand that is one of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes! I remember watching it when I was young and wanting to cry/laugh/scream all at the same time over how awful that would be. Mom dropped off Dr. Sleep yesterday but I've not started it yet. I did finish a really good one called Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. About a man who is very active/rich and is in an accident and ends up a quadriplegic, wanting to go to the assisted suicide place, and the woman who is hired to help take care of him. It made me cry my eyes out. Worth the read for sure.

    Why does it seem like?

Here's something to think about, you just made a broad generalized statement about folks who do tattoos. And then wonder how it is that someone can make a broad generalization about police officers.

    Thank you

I think you were there on their opening night. I was there for a little while that night, but I didn't know many people outside of Nick, Mario, and Chad. I don't know them well- I'm just a customer.. I recognize a lot of tattooers by their work, not so much what they look like. :) but I'll bet there were a few LST folks there I wish I'd said hello to.

    Rock of Ages Tattoo Design

Oh, what the hell. I'll post mine here, too: By Paul Dobleman at Spider Murphy's. I didn't give him a ton of room to work with, but he still pulled a great, unique take on an iconic image.

    The ED HARDY Thread

Yeah, this reminded me of a time I had a conversation with a friend's friend. I think she asked me about my tattoos initially and it somehow segued to Hardy. At that point she spewed some trash about Ed Hardy thinking of the clothing. I responded by trying to inform her that he's actually a great artist, a legend in the tattoo world, and a great influence on people despite what feelings there are towards the clothing design. Also that it was Audigier who she should probably be disgusted with. In her elitist arrogance, her look at me turned to disgust and saw me as a huge douche for even trying to say anything positive about the name "Ed Hardy". That pretty much ended the conversation and we happily went our separate ways. I might not necessarily be a fan of the stereotypes wearing the clothes but I'm far less interested in the people too elitist to have an open mind and who trash others they know nothing about.

  44. I think Kahlan raises an interesting point. My opinion is, reproducing work of classical artists that were never intended to be tattoos is kinda cool. There is no mistaking the work of a Dali or a Giger. No one could ever wrongly take credit for it. I think Giger's style has certainly been "quoted", if you will, by many a tattooer and perhaps to the point of plagerism or insult depending on the quality. Then there is someone like Sailor Jerry. Obviously one of the most important people in tattoo history whose work is something of a standard in modern tattooing. His designs have been copied millions of times and even indirectly, plenty of designs can be traced back to him. How does he fit into this discussion? I suppose, in his case, we are again talking more about flash than original designs meant for one person. I'd still be interested in hearing people's take on that.

  45. What about when people get Salvador Dali, H.R. Giger tattoos and all that.. Would that be considered a form of plagiarism as well?
