After 2 1/2 months rooming with my lovely mother after moving back to VT, I am moving into my own place! Living out the New Girl dream and rooming with 3 men... This should be interesting!

here's my tattoo from cole dunn that i got today at the meeting of the marked. hard to get it all in one shot because it's caps my shoulder off pretty good but you get the idea.

Hello Everyone I have been in a process of getting a back piece for a month now this is my first tattoo and the pic is 4 hours after the last session. Wanted to hear some honest opinions. It still has another session in 2 weeks in which some details and all the coloring will be done and it should complete the piece. What do you guys think?

With a process as important as getting a piece of artwork permanently drilled into your skin, how could you NOT use a professional tattoo designer?? Online of course. Face to face interaction is so last generation

A week from tomorrow I'm getting tattooed in Providence, RI, then I'm leaving for Europe til mid-December. Packing will be complicated since my journeys span multiple climates, but I'm excited to be traveling again!

@TrixieFaux & I just got back from a photo shoot at Memoir for Tattoo magazine. Don't know if our faces will show but it's the closest that I will ever be to being a model.

So far, for the first 4 weeks at my new school I have kept covered up with long pants and long sleeve shirts...even on these 90-100 degree days. I do have working A/C in my classroom so it only gets hot outside. Well, I got some cropped pants yesterday that show the bottom of the monmon cat tail and I'm going to wear them tomorrow. Yeah! Livin' on the edge!

I did that 'Fung-Wah' bus every weekend between Boston and NYC for two years, it was only $10 each way. I have lots of odd stories from those trips!!!

Finally finished my left knee ditch, drawn on. Right knee ditch healed, from the Black Heart line book on Walk-In Sundays. Both done by Jeff Rassier at Black Heart in San Francisco, CA.

drove down to frederick, maryland and got tattooed by alex boyko today.

Day 1 & 2 with Silvano Fiato 12 hours yesterday on this and 8 more today, still not finished. Coming back in 4 weeks time to Silvano the day after Florian to fill in the knee, do some more detail to the bottom part. He has done some very heavy saturation so that it will look great when healed. Going back next June to do the back of the calf. I love Lee Jeffries stuff so obviously we based it around his works. So jealous Ross! I just read this entire thread. I don't know why I haven't seen it sooner. As of right now, I like balance. Not necessarily symmetry, but there's no way I could have just worked on one limb at a time. As far as my "overall look" goes, in business attire nobody is the wiser that I'm tattooed. In shorts and a tee, it's pretty obvious. I still get shy around old people though. My initial instincts are to cover up with a jacket. But that instinct is slowly starting to fade. I have a bunch of gaps that are totally bothering me right now. But I'm trying to abide by my self-imposed rule of waiting for a tattoo to heal before I start the next one.

People staring at my tattoos doesn't bother me in the slightest. I've had them for a long time. But I agree, the uninvited touching is beyond aggravating. Along with having tattoos, I have long, thick, curly red hair (at the risk of sound arrogant - it is beautiful). A few years ago I was standing in line at the market. It was just one of those days and I wasn't in the nicest of moods. The woman in front of me turned around and started stroking my hair telling me how beautiful it was and asked if it was natural. I smiled, reached out and put my hand on her boob, as I started to squeeze I said, "Gosh, thanks so much. Your tits are beautiful too. Are they real?" She was so shocked and looked like she was going to cry as she quickly walked away to get in another line. I just laughed. It was extremely satisfying.

I'd take moped and flip flops guy. Rolex and wanky suit guy sounds... well... wanky. :p Ryan, you have the benefit here of many "hot girls" who are into tattoos responding to your post (at least I imagine everyone who posts on LST to be a beautiful person. Right?) Getting a tattoo is not going to make a difference. Your personality and confidence will. By all means get an awesome tattoo, but do it for yourself. That is way cooler than getting a tattoo that you perceive will make you cool in the eyes of someone else. Girls can sniff that crap out really easily, and it is a huge turn off. No-one likes a try hard. Being true to yourself and being comfortable in your own skin is attractive. Anyway, in response to what you actually asked... phoenix? Classic subject, awesome to look at, carries the sentiment of the quote without being a quote...

How many hours? I barely remember. I feel like 4-5 on the back and 1.5 on the arm. That was silly of me. And I was totally overwhelmed by the sights/sounds/smells of the convention. I'm looking forward (if I am in town) to all the loot! So much art! Books!!!

I believe we are scheduling my back with Shad sometime near the convention so I can go!!! I hope to be there again this year! But I don't know if I want to get tattooed at the convention. That was rough. Too much in one day. But if I'm in town I will surely be there.

Finally got my elbow done. Was worth waiting, I'm stoked about it.

1 shot Zeis Tiger/Snake by Jason Phillips at FTW in Oakland, CA. Jason slays both Japanese and American traditional. If you're ever in the Bay Area, you should definitely book an appointment with him. So happy with how this turned out. So glad I don't ever have to tattoo my chest ever again.

I agree with @Shaun1105 - bigger is better for the type of detail you want. You don't want just her face floating there so it has to be a nice size for the detail. I bet it feels great to look in the mirror and see her back there, right? :-)

Bethenny, if you really want your back done then do it. We all might whinge about how bad a backpiece can be while getting but i promise that all who have finished a backpiece would do it again. I myself am about 1/2 way through mine and although it sucks getting the work and healing it the satisfaction of seeing perhaps the biggest piece of art you can do on your body is awesome. I dont look forward to my fortnightly sessions but once they are done I cannot wait to get home and see the progress. The end result is well and truely worth it. Btw @Cork love the work, great detail and colours. I wish I was that far advanced with mine. - - - Updated - - - This fortnights update. Most of work was done on right side arse cheek and thigh but shows how he merged the original 3/4 sleeve into the backpiece.

Second session today with my buddy Iain Mullen on his collaboration with Rudy Fritsch. Beyond happy with how this is progressing. We did the lines with two machines almost 2 months ago and I had gotten used to seeing it that way. Now with some of the black in I am amazed by seeing it come to new life again.

Thrown me sides & a leg in, not me back yet I think. Anyway, back tattooed by CP, Brisbane Australia. Cheers.

Hello and welcome! Either way is going to be meaningful to you. I would say go with the younger portrait because that seems to be more what you want. I'm not super crazy about having her drawn as an angel because I think that a regular realistic portrait without embellishment would be stronger, but ultimately, it comes down to what you want and what you and your artist decide will work best. Who are you thinking about going to for this tattoo?

Oh it's a pleasant enough journey, and if you and the Montreal contingent on here can make it to NYC semi-regularly, then someone who lives in MA doesn't have an excuse (other than the city's ability to make money disappear). Guess I'll just have to get tattooed twice while I'm there to make the best use of a trip. It's a hard life.

I do my best to offend as many people as possible with my tattoos......... But in all seriousness.....I am sure I do have some tattoos that would be offensive to a lot of different people or groups! I really never intentionally had myself tattooed to offend anyone but more so because I generally don't care what people think of me or my tattoos! If I thought it was a good idea at the time I did it.......and have no regrets about any of my tattoos!

Always love a good eagle. Such a classic subject for a tattoo and a lot of people do them killer. Here is mine by Bert Krak done at the London Tattoo Convention last September. So happy with it and such a cool experience.
