  2. @ThatGuy - I love when I gawk at awesome shit on IG and then find out it's on a poster! Totally worth the nausea. :) I am not sure if I ever posted my completed back on here. Done by Stephanie Tamez at Saved in Brooklyn, from summer 2012 to summer 2013. I loved the journey and love the tattoo(s?) and it feels like it's been on my back forever. The map was my first ever tattoo from a long long time ago that we worked around, although she pumped it up a bit to integrate it into the larger composition.

We finally found our furever dog! Meet Ella :) She is 3 months, very small. She is definitely a boston terrier mix, just not sure what the mix is. Already head over heels for this puppy bundle.

Booked a trip for the first weekend in June down to the Jersey Shore in the hopes with getting a walk in with Tom Yak. I called the shop and talked to him, so it should be all good.

  6. Yes I have..........and it's a group that is totally unnecessary!!! I have been a tattooed woman (I prefer to say "person" though) for 30 years now and the one thing I have learned is that if you want people to accept you then just be yourself and do the same things you would do if you weren't tattooed! If you want to be treated the same as everyone else then why would you walk around with a banner saying that you aren't like everyone else??? And then on top of it discriminate against people who are like you by putting a limit on the number of mods they need to have??? All these groups popped up right about the time the tattoo shows hit the air! Some to try to capitalize financially off of the "new tattoo craze"......some just so people could stroke their own egos in the name of "doing good" for animals, etc! The best way to show the world that you are no different is to go out in the world and live a day to day boring existence of a life and show the world that you didn't get tattooed to try to be different and draw attention to you! I am not saying that some good may not be getting done by these groups BUT in my opinion it does as much harm to the mod community by sectioning yourselves off and claiming you are different....and it cancels out any good that is being done!

No. Then I looked them up. Not really for me. The "About": The requirements: Why must my tattoos be visible, and why 5? My big freaking back piece, which is NOT visible unless I am in a swim suit, doesn't count? I'll put my square footage up against your 5 infinity/quote/mustache/star/feathers any day. (Ooo, ooo, speaking of feathers, look who has her feathers all in a dander this morning ) I get that they want people to link tattoos to charity in order to (I think) give tattoos a better rap, but really? They want to demolish stereotypes, but create their own with a silly definition about what "modified" means and what a modified woman "should be." I never thought of myself as a modified woman and I never associated tattoos with being "modified" so I guess it's a wash. :: pins on race bib to raise more $$ for charity :: My $0.02. Maybe I just need more caffeine. And sorry if you are a Doll or are looking for members. No offense intended.

  9. New one while drawing up some lettering on the spot, since I hadn't had time to do it ahead of time... "If you don't have time to do it today, we can wait... I know how it goes being busy. I mean, we're pretty much in the same industry... I'm a massage therapist..." Huh. Also, had the lettering ready in about ten minutes, and finished with 20 minutes left in the appointment. You know, since I didn't have time to do it that day.

I agree with you, @SeeSea ! I also kind of can't imagine doing any kind of activity solely under the banner of "modified". That's not enough to unite a bunch of disparate people. And weirdly, despite the fact that I of course don't think people should judge one unfairly based on being tattooed, I also find these self-conscious attempts to make tattoos/mods seem more "acceptable" kind of annoying. I feel like this stuff actually exaggerates how "hard" it is to be tattooed, when I don't really think it is in this day and age. (And to me, a lot of the shit I DO get as a tattooed women has more to do with misogyny than tattoos.) Also I am not a doll! My dog is, and she has two visible tattoos, so maybe she can join. :)

Like I said, I was mostly joking - I certainly didn't mean it as a reprimand. At the end of the day I think people are rightly free to post pictures of a tattoo that's on them if they want to either way.

  15. After spending the weekend with lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins I have a new "plainskin" comment to share: "What is it?" Are my tattoos really that shitty and unreadable that you can't see a snake/rose, demo head, or a skull??? Does a person need some basic knowledge of tattoo imagery to easily recognize the image? Also I was told the thigh is a very girly place to get a tattoo. And tattoo inks are filled with carcinogenic poisons.

  18. Too many to list! Most recently .. 'But you were such a pretty girl Holly' and from one of my older ladies who's nails i do 'You're never going to meet an oil baron and skip off happily into the distance now are you dear?' On the whole i have to say most of the comments i get are pretty positive. In the early days of becoming visibly tattooed I was really conscious of being stared at especially by older women... now though i don't even notice!

I believe they mostly are referring to the bogarting of their own photos, which in turn get reblogged and spread to every Tumblr without proper credit given to them.

  26. I have never really gotten any dumb questions from non-tattooed folks. Oddly enough, the most annoying people to me are those with one or two tattoos. I seem to have a ton of people with 1-2 tiny hidden tattoos thst want to tell me how they "would totally get full sleeves if they could". Also, there are the people who insist on telling me the deep meaning behind their tiny, poorly-done tattoo. "Yeah, this tribal sun represents all the fun times in my life and reminds me to always keep my mind on the love that flows throughout the universe like the warm rays of the sun." Meh.

Hello Ladies (and Gents!), I havent posted in absolutely ages but i've been reading with interest ! I'm getting my sternum tattooed tomorrow and i have to admit i'm pretty nervous... Generally i've found being tattooed ok so far however my partner has a relatively small tattoo on his sternum and he really really struggled with it! I'm planning to wear a crop top kind of sports bra that is now too big for me (one of the downsides of any type of weight loss for me!) and also a vest top which im going to pull down around my waist. I'm really really self conscious about my lower tummy area after having carried two single pregnancies and one twin pregnancy! This thread has been incredibly useful in the run up to this tattoo so thanks folks!

  35. The "taboo" of tattooing past your wrists & collar line ceases to exist once your suited. In my book, tattooed hands and necks compliment the suit & takes it to another level. That's the work you have earned. But yes, we all have different takes on the subject. I refused to touch hands or neck until my suit was near completed and are now my favourite collections, although maybe not the best work. ;) I think you can blend different styles, as long as the approach is consistent. I have vast differences in style, but maintained the basics of simple colour, bold lines, heavy black background and not too busy designs. I feel that's the key.

  38. So many awesome tattoos here lately, wish my tapatalk likes would show up! I got double teamed on my feet today, Jason Walstrom did the pig while Mimi Wunsch did the rooster. Pics stolen from their IG's. Wasnt as bad as I'd thought it might be beforehand, but definately stung more in a few places than most other spots so far, a bit worse than collarbone, nowhere near as bad the rib cliff. It's gonna be a fun few healing days coming up I'm sure!

  49. As you grow older and become more familar with tattooing, i find that you become a lot more open to different styles and being to want to incorporate them for your own tattoos. Prior to working in the industry i was pretty much a generally strictly into traditional, but after a year i found myself wanting to get Japanese, Chicano, Ben Grillo styled Black and Grey and more. I've worked with a lot of tattooers who have blast over sleeves etc, and the mismatched "styles" suit them, it's kind of a reflection of their journey learning and engaging in tattooing in a broader sense.
