Hello everyone! It's been quiet from me for a while here now, that'a because I've been working on this leg with Marius Meyer! We did it in only three REALLY painful sessions :cool: never tattooing the side of my stomach ever again! hahah But I'm soo happy with how it turned out! Cat lady is by Chris Conn :o

Hey guys, new member here! Thought I'd christen my first post with my [/url]first tattoo by Guy le tatooer. It is 3 weeks old. Would love to add more to it a la japanese/traditional sleeve of sorts but going up from the shoulder to the collar bone. Any ideas? Alternatively, I might just have that arm as a trad american sleeve, with just various badge pieces.

I had the pleasure of hanging around while Taki checked the exhibition yesterday and did his press conference. I don't normally get involved in gallery shows and museums because they usually focus on the paintings tattooers produce which doesn't interest me as much as tattoos but this is and incredible thing for me to be part of. Mostly because of the other tattooers involved. It's a small-ish exhibit as far as museums go but there's a hell of a lot to see. I'm not going to review it, I'll leave that to others, I just wanted to share a few of the photos I took yesterday. I checked with Taki and he's ok with me posting them here but most of all: Photography is encouraged at this exhibition. And likewise I had an awesome time with @cltattooing! She was very nice to me as I choked on ceviche. It takes a lot to be graceful in that situation, hah! Looking forward to next time :) Also I got tattooed and it was awesome and I'll post pics when I get some proper ones. Much agreed with @cltattooing - so far all of the LSTers I've met have all fallen under the category of "good people" - so here's a round of back patting for us all. :p ALSO I had some really good news that I don't quite want to voice just yet, but suffice it to say that some seriously awesome stuff is happening lately and can't wait to share it when I can do so without jinxing. :D

Okay, this is just a first pass - nothing is done except maybe the sea snake but there are no highlights or shadows for him yet either. On the right, hidden are two unfinished clownfish in an anemone. He'll keep laying things out to get the whole design before he goes back to finish each part completely. Next up will be some fish and coral on the right, and in the middle will be the deep blue with some shadowed critters in the distance. Kinda frustrating that nothing will be finished until everything is finished at the last minute! FYI - This is a sea scene made from a number of pictures I've taken while diving. The sea snake I chased all over the bottom trying to get a close-up of him, only later to find out how poisonous he is! Oops! And I just love my eels!

Scott got back to me about Pagoda City, too. Nothing set in stone as it's still pretty damn far away, but looking like that's gonna happen again.

Well, we didn't manage to make it 5 hours, I gave up after 3.5 hours :) But we did cover a lot of skin in those three and half hours, so I think we did OK :) Next session in two weeks... can't wait ;-)

I got the job I was hoping for! Wont make very much hourly for the first three months, but after that I should make good money. And the company offers an awesome profit based bonus system, which will most likely lead to my car being paid off quickly, a Triumph motorcycle, and some rad tattoos. Not necessarily in that order. I may be thinking a bit far ahead, but damn im happy now!

I've gotten kind of obsessed with stone litho--I didn't even know what lithography WAS a few months ago and now I basically live in the print shop. I'm still figuring things out, but here are a couple pieces I've been ruining my back with this spring, both editions of 11 on somerset and BFK printmaking papers. I'm going to learn to etch copper plates next, I think.

@reaperz Richard Stell and Tony Hundahl would both do an awesome job. In Dallas, Oliver Peck or Dean Williams at Elm Street. You won't be disappointed.

I've been meeting LST people. Meeting new people in general, as well. Also, there's a barbecue tomorrow at an old friend's dad's place while he's in town. And, my aunt is in town, and we went to First Friday in Oakland tonight. It was neat. She got some cool prints from one of the artists. Kind of wish I had gotten one, but it's every month, so I can wait. Since she's been in town, I've also been spending a lot more time with my little cousins at my other aunt's house. They're so fun and very intelligent. Glad to be seeing more of them for sure.

Best of luck! As for advice...plan your arrival time to the convention so there is no issue with your scheduled session time with Horimitsu. Line on Saturday can get real long, like down the block but you will get in eventually. Be on time, be respectful, and take care of your artist ;) Mike

@OutOfIdeas congrats, that's great!!!! Saturday night I got to hang out with the wonderfully charming and badass miss @beez after she finished her apt with Junii at Diamond Club. 9 hours in two days! What a beast! Got tacos, coffee, walked around the Mission, talked tattoos and life. Really fun time. Sunday I tattooed @MadeIndelible after being interviewed for his zine project. That was a really interesting experience. I've never been interviewed before and I feel like I word vomit a lot, haha. Anyway, I'm not trying to circle jerk here, but I really recommend anyone take up the opportunity to kick it with LSTers off the board. Every single one of you that I've met so far has been really awesome. Like genuine quality folks.

I am really liking seeing other people's faces! Definitely a lot of beards. I'm here to contribute another lady face. And actually I'm real excited cause I just cut all my hair off again last Monday. Hello.

I've talked about this some before... A few years ago I found out that I have a neurodegenerative disease that will eventually land me in a wheelchair. I really don't know how fast or slow it will go. There's not any treatment for it, nothing to do for it but treat symptoms and wait for the inevitable. I got super depressed about it for a long time. I absolutely HATED my legs. Despised them for having this disease, for failing me, for "dooming" me to be disabled someday. Sometime last summer I started to have persistent dreams that I was getting my legs tattooed. I ignored them as well as I could for awhile, and then started putting some serious thought into going for it. I started looking around the interwebs to see what was out there... And then I came here :) Since I started getting my legs tattooed my feelings about them have changed completely. I don't hate them at all anymore. In fact, I might even love them!!! I definitely love the tattoos, and to a great degree all those positive feelings have bled over onto the legs themselves. And... I'm finding that my perspective about the disease as a whole is beginning to shift some too... I'm coming around to the idea that I need to view it less as a curse, not "being doomed", and more of just "a change"... I'm definitely not all the way there yet, but it's something that never would have been possible in the state of mind I was in when I hated my legs guts for having this thing in the first place. - - - Updated - - - And I have to add... I want to thank all y'all here at LST for being here, for giving such great input and advice, for showing off such great work all the time!! God forbid, what if I'd gotten crappy leg tattoos?!?! I doubt it would have had the same positive impact that it's had...
