Not sure how well this will upload from my iPad, but Grez posted this one today. Edit: should be more clear. This is not on me. I wish!!

  2. Hi guys. I haven't posted anything in ages, but that doesn't mean I don't stop by regularly and check out whats new. The past year was kind of a rough one for me health-wise, but I'm cautiously optimistic that things are looking up. I only got one tattoo in 2014 but that's okay, as it was the last big spot I had left open. I spaced out getting this tummy tickler done from May through October. Just now got around to getting a healed picture (and a shitty one at that) of it. Done by my local dude Paul Pearson at Bright Ideas in Murfreesboro TN. (P.S. Although we used a print of the original Pharaoh's Horses painting for reference my plainskin Missus prefers to call it a three headed horse with a gunshot wound).

    Artist asking artists

Welcome Luke! If this is really how you feel, tattoos may not be for you. Workplaces and workplace cultures will vary, and while I'd expect that tattoos would be accepted in most so-called creative environments, things always change, and what's acceptable now may not be so acceptable ten years down the line. If you want to get tattooed, you have to be okay with that and be willing to deal with the potential consequences of being tattooed, and if career advancement is more important to you than tattoos, wait on it, think about it, and don't get tattooed until you're ready for it.

  5. I've been really enjoying getting lots of little fillers done recently, as I work on my left leg. This weekend I went to The Okey Doke to see Franz Stefanik. He did the mace, the tooth, and the chain link around the bulldog that he did for me in the summer.

  6. Whoa, with all the awesome tattoos posted in the Lowdown thread recently I'm surprised no one's posted here yet. I'll kick it off! Here's my thigh by Seth Wood, started at Temple and finished at Saved.

  7. 1st = Do you know what "style" of tattoo art you want? next = Keep in mind that whatever you end up picking - it doesn't have to be a "traditional" representation of a memorial tattoo. Anything that reminds you specifically of her or something you two shared and which brings a smile to your face will work best.

  10. Explain to the shop manager that Polynesian was only part of what you described earlier, and that specifically Polynesian is not what your consult and deposit were about. Give him or her a chance to liase with the artist . . .

I use Google extensively (Eagle snake chest tattoo) and Pinterest (traditional snake eagle flash). If you can find a copy of "Sailor Jerry Collins American Tattoo Master" and look on page 75, there is one kick-ass Wivern (Wyvern).

Also, and my apologies for missing this the first time 'round, but the "PERSIST" script on my upper knuckles was done by Norm, the bonji Om was done by Chad Woodley, and the "KNOW LOVE" on my lower knuckles was done by Trevor Taylor.

  22. I work in a creative industry and many of the people I work with have large tattoos. Sometimes I think it makes us look the part of "hip creative types" to our clients. Even so, I'm glad I waited until I had a job out of school and built up experience before getting tattoos in an easily visible location. Make sure you can provide for yourself before you limit your job options. You can always start with a thigh or chest tattoo and work on a sleeve later.

    The ladies thread

Yes it's definitely worth it, and that's what I had to keep telling myself when I wanted to tap out. Suck it up, girl. You stop now and *something* won't look as good. That really helped get me through. It was so strange - when I knew we were at the home stretch that evening, it stopped hurting. We'd grinded a place near my neck where the nerves are really messed up and we knew the second pass on that was coming. And I literally had to prepare by holding on to the table and putting one song on my iPod to play repeatedly and crying and muttering "don't move don't move don't move" for about 15 minutes as tears streamed down my face. Worst pain ever by far. There's something wrong with the nerves in my neck/shoulder right there. After that was over, I felt like I could sit there for hours. Soooo strange coming out the other side of that. The body is such a strange sack of oddness. But a really pretty one now :)

Hey all, I've been MIA due to school, but i just got my other thigh tattooed so I thought I would post it. Done by Stace Forand at Steveston tattoo (just outside of vancouver, Canada) 1 session, 5.5 hours. - - - Updated - - - Not sure why it posted sideways, but I'm on my phone and cannot be bothered to figure out how to flip it. Sorry.

  32. Just got done with my chest/half sleeves from Horitomo at State of Grace. Took me a couple of years to get it all done since I had to fly there and book back to back sessions. First, here is a pic of my fucked up tattoo that I got when I was 18. Horitomo touched it up and incorporated it with his art. SOrry not sure why some photos are posting sideways, I have it upright when I loaded them. [/img] [/img] [/img]

  33. Those of you who follow Lee M Knight have probably already seen this one I got from him a few weeks back but here it is anyway. Done at Cult Classic Tattoo on my trip to England. Was a ripper bloke to get tattooed by and he went out of his way to make this tattoo happen!

  34. Just got back to the hotel in Oslo after having Marius Meyer blast me for 4 hours or so. Shout out to @Iwar for being an awesome tour guide, host, driver... really the only way he could have made me more welcome is by offering some hand relief. Maybe on the next trip!

  35. Chipped away a few more hours on my back. I think we're pretty much done the black shading, I think there's some greys to do in the water still, we still have to figure out the scales or patterns on the snake, but we're making progress. All work, as always, by Dave Cummings of PSC Tattoo.

Had a few hours on my back yesterday. Worked on background was a good session, everyone at Sugarahack is so friendly. I had a chance to listen to the first couple episodes of the serial podcast too, I'll admit , I'm hooked. Listened to a few more on the drive home. Back at it again end of January bring down the left side and hopefully move below the waist. See how it goes. I'll say it every time, the love handle area is killer.

  39. This is done but its not done. Its going to be part of a larger space piece and my artist does not want to do the space background intill the rest of the pieces are done. So it looks a little odd, the circles in the bubble will be stars eventually. In a few weeks I will get Bart in a spacesuit on the other side. This is by Rev. J.R. out of Vicious Ink in Rochester Hills michigan.

  41. Nearly finished the anemone and shading and side corals, and shadows along the bottom. The red is the huge bruise already starting. The clownfish were already there, and the crab first pass was from the last session. I am so amazed at how this is all turning out! Two more session until we're done!

@rozone I know I've commented many times before on your hands, but they are so unbelievably good. The way that the hands are two separate designs that carry over into a single coherent piece is kind of blowing my mind right now. I'm so glad it worked out for you, Thomas is a really special tattooer.
