  1. Got this a week ago from Scott Sylvia at Blackheart on my forearm Pictures don't do it justice at all the colours are much more vivid and it looks a lot sharper in person, and its a bit warped in these as i tried to take the photos myself, but you get the idea

  5. i put this on a guy when i first came to berlin and was doing a guest spot at fuer immer. the appointment was booked before i arrived, and i was a little unsure if i should do, because, believe it or not, the drawing he had brought in was of even lower quality. after some contemplation and discussing it with one of the owners who said he would probably do it, i decided to do it. when the customer came in, i asked him about his design. in poor english he explained that his old roommate had painted it on his shower curtain years ago and he loved the image. he didn't seem retarded, so i went for it. he came back to me a few months ago for another tattoo, which was also weird, but maybe not as weird, and says he still loves the penis. also, his english seems to have improved.

  6. They are celebrating this year because Sailor Jerry Rum is sponsoring it, and Chicago Tattoo Company has posted it all over Instagram. My birthday is November 24th, but I have no sponsors.

  8. I got tattooed by Chris Trevino in 1997, right before I left Austin for SF. He said he had just done a guest spot in SF, so I asked him what the coolest tattoo he did on the trip was. Now, for those of you who are familiar with Pre-100% Japanese Style Chris Trevino, you know that "coolest tattoo" also meant "craziest tattoo." He went on to describe an insane armpit-to-waistline rib piece that involved, among other other things, a jackelope wearing a fez, a waterfall of blood, and a lady with a beehive hairdo making the devil horns with her ring and middle fingers tucked away in her special pocket. I couldn't really get my head around it, but that was the case with many of the tattoos Chris described to me. Fast forward to 1999, when I finally had enough money to get tattooed by Eddy Deutsche. I went to 222 on my lunch break and booked the appointment with some guy at the counter. We got to talking about my tattoos and I mentioned that I had work from Chris. He said, "Oh yeah, he did my ribs" and lifted up his shirt. It was that piece! And the guy was Jeff Rassier, who is in a league of his own when it comes to putting weird (and awesome) tattoos on people.

  10. I saw a lot of shops posting pictures on instagram yesterday for free/cheap SJ tattoo events across the country. They were all showing lines around the block, super packed standing room only inside the shops, etc. I also saw a few people post their 'daily sheets' as we call them back home. The one where you write down all the tatts you did that day. Some of these guys made a lot of money yesterday, and some did a lot of tattoos and made nothing off them. I dunno how I feel about the whole thing. I wouldn't wait in line all day for it, but then again I can get a free or cheap sailor jerry tattoo whenever I want. I did think it was interesting that someone said in the other thread on this topic that Sailor Jerry himself didn't drink and hated cheapskates.

  12. No hammies for me, and my backpiece is Japanese imagery. I wanted my back to look like a big one shot tattoo. I will finish the flames, but I haven't decided if I will do any background at all.

  13. My Grandfather told me that his tattoos were a secret code to other fishermen and sailors, like a weird sea-faring Masonic thing. I was with him in a pub in Dublin as a kid and someone bought him a drink. He claimed it was because of his mermaid tattoo, but the guy probably just owed him. Might have file this one under 'bullshit my grandfather told me'.

  18. I think the longest between tattoos for me since I turned 18 has been a year and a half? I think it averages out to three or four months from finishing one piece to starting another, funds permitting. I recently got both feet tattooed and the month long wait between the first and the second was killing me, I couldn't wait to see the finished product. Got to agree with gougetheeyes though, that 'the itch' gets worse when I hang around with other people getting tattoos, keeps them on my mind.

    Facial Tattoos

i dont do them because i just dont want to be that close to anyone's face, much less have to see every pore because i'm spending every moment looking right at them. for that reason, and because face tattoos look stupid.

    A tattoo to set standards...

that chic with the alabama qb has a messed up face and it looks like possibly a beard. i typed a bunch of stuff about the whole media bullshit, tattoo opinions, etc but decided it's more important to focus on how this chic is breathing out of a tiny hole on the side of her face..and is that tiny eye above it?

  30. Hey Folks: I am starting a leg sleeve (s) with Stuart Cripwell. I am getting tattoo about once about every other week and you can see what we have done so far below. For the first few pieces, I just picked stuff I liked and had it tattooed in spots I thought would fit my body well. Now, I still pick out the piece but Stuart outlines the negative space [ex: the empty slot of skin between two tattoos] on tracing paper. He then draws the piece, adding and taking away, so that it fits in the outline. Best, Dellwood P.S. I am in the market for good set of kneecap tattoos ideas. I know there is a thread on this but was hoping for some more suggestions taking into consideration negative space, traditional style tattoos. I have been looking at Spider Webb's books of traditional American body suits and the knees are always hard to make out. From what I can see, though, it seems like suns, nautical stars/hexes, spider webs, and elephant heads were pretty common.

  38. Cu_Bu: completely agree, it's very beautiful. gougetheeyes: I hear you, but works for myself, has been listening to Kore's interview the past week or so, pretty much on a loop, while packing lumpias, washing dishes, making bread. Youtube and podcasts keep me from going nuts at times. I hope you enjoy them, to show how ignorant I was, and still am, as I ruefully learned on my other thread of the day, I completely thought at first that Jeff Gogue was just a client and was amazed....'Wow...what great hospitality, he's picking up his client from the train, sharing dinner, etc. etc......'.....sad I know.
