  1. Oh what the hell, probably crazy to enter a tattoo here given what's already posted, but whatever, I'm not here to make friends: Done by Seth Wood, Saved Tattoo. Mostly finished October 2011 so the thing is healed a year, but the illustrations in the book are fresh and were done a couple of weeks ago. Apologies for the giant pictures.

  2. Dhfrjjfgj I wish I was that close to either spider Murphy or American graffiti. Wait. Wait..............wait. Having to change your wants to match their talent seems odd. Sounds like convincing yourself otherwise for convenience. Just reread that - if it's a different idea that's cool, but still.......imagine a Stuart cripwell or theo Mindell snake/dagger

  6. Hi everyone :) My name is Paul Aherne. I'm a 26 year old tattooer based in Dublin, Ireland. I started learning how to tattoo in 2010 and it has pretty much taken over my life at this point haha. I really like the whole ethos of "positivity and respect" that this forum promotes so I decided to stop lurking and join up! Also, I have some of my work uploaded to my gallery for anyone who cares to have a look. Looking forward to contributing on here :) -Paul

    Your thoughts on this shop?

you can always take some examples of lady heads that you do like to show how you like the lips and noses. just because someone has drawn some faces or heads in a certain manner doesn't always mean that they aren't capable of doing them different.

  8. Thanks! The tattoo was "done" until we were at Saved for @Pugilist to get some work done on her back and Seth saw the tattoo and said that he has it in his portfolio and he's been thinking about it and that the book needed something in it, and I'm really glad that he had the idea because it really pushes the tattoo that little bit further and I think brings it to that next level. I'm still kind of blown away by what he managed to do in such a small space. The tiny little Baphomet makes me so happy. Seth is awesome.

  24. It's worth a $20 cab ride (or whatever it is) to get a $500 tattoo (or whatever it is). Shit's permanent. Take this from someone who dropped some cash on a tattoo that will cost x4 the cost to remove/cover. Funny thing is it isn't even all that bad! When (if) you make the mistake to get a sub-par tattoo, you will regret it. Now that my bad work is sitting next to amazing work it makes that regret tenfold.

    Upcoming Tattoos

I'm currently on Seth Wood's waiting list and I just sent an email several days ago to Chris O'Donnell. I'm also waiting for Eckel to announce his new location so I can book time with him. All I have to do now is just wait which sucks since I can't stop thinking about getting tattooed every single day.

  30. There's nothing at all wrong in having to wait to get first-rate work. I don't see any point whatsoever in settling for a tattoo that is just "fine".

  31. Forgive my geography but I put you in the vicinity of American Graffiti , I would do whatever it takes and get tattooed some where like this where I could be assured of the artists ability and also enjoy the relative comfort of that knowledge . Otherwise when in doubt ask Uncle @hogg if he would be so kind . main

Welcome, and thanks for your service! I think you'll find LST to be a friendly, informative place. However, it's not a place to ask questions about breaking into the biz or technical questions. Take a look at the Last Sparrow Tattoo - Newbie Guidelines when you get a chance. Who's done the tattoos you have? And more importantly, when you do come home?

  34. It looks like a good shop to me. El Gerome does some very nice portrait work. Dennis seems to do good all around work. I would stick with the same artist for all the work and would probably use Dennis. 1/2 the thing is how happy you are with the artwork before you sit in the chair. If there is anything you don't like and want changed, have it done before he cuts a stencil. Geo Rogers... his dragon head is superb, not your thing but I had to mention it. Rob

  40. Just got back from a day trip to Amsterdam. Got my inner bicep tattooed by Guen Douglas at Salon Serpent. It hit parts of the armpit and ditch and it hurt like hell. And now my arm is massive. But so worth it! Probably a little girly for some of y'all's taste.

    Whole family tattoos

I have done several memorials on whole families, so yes it is done commonly, however the designs are always different to represent the person, or people, getting remembered in the tattoo. I'd recommend discussing representation of a common trait that everyone likes or loves about the deceased. And the artist can take that and make it suitable for a tattoo at proper size. for example if she was a person who was religious and loved everyone, a sacred heart would be a good representation, or if she was a person who amused everyone with poking people gently with a knife when she cooked, like my grandmother, a traditional knife with a banner would be a joyful representation. etc... Hope this helps some.
