  3. Yes it is, Androosh. The man is a master! I'm fortunate to live within driving distance of CTC, so take advantage of that whenever possible. Heading there in a few hours-it's my youngest son's 18th birthday, so time for the traditional tattoo.

  5. @Dan S, my favorite part about both of those is how the peeps are like "yeah, it's a fucking big cat, whatever though, I'd rather be eating peanut butter." Whereas the cats are like "PLEASE, GOD!! WHY WON'T YOU LOVE ME?!!?"

  6. Well, what the hell...this month is in the bag already, but might as well toss one in just to keep in practice. Tattooed by Nick Colella @ CTC this past summer, a little family action.

  14. hah. Protein bars and water, my friend. Clean living. I was good until we started outlining (the outlines of the Monk were already there, it was just a color session until we finished the main part and decided on the halo) near the armpit. By that point I was hitting a wall. Still... finished it up. Until we work on the background. I DID take my glaucoma medicine once I left the shop, so that helped a bit. ;D

  16. If you live in the same city as a shop, you really should just stop in for a consult. Emails really are for people who are coming from out of town, and they could possibly get the idea that you aren't that serious about getting tattooed if you aren't willing to come in person. Calling is a little bit better, but ultimately at some point you will have to stop in anyway so might as well be right off the bat. Not trying to bust balls just trying to give perspective.

  18. By the by- David did around six hours on my ribs on Tuesday, and we used Nibble and Sip; Maybe its an overall improvement because of fitness/diet changes, or maybe its because of N&S, but... there was a noticeable difference in my tolerance over the last time I had my ribs worked on.

  24. So I got tattooed two weeks ago and am due for another session on my back at the end of the month, so I have really not been in "need" of new work lately, but a local shop had a fundraiser yesterday for a family affected by domestic violence, and I could not resist stopping in to get something for a good cause. I got this tiny but awesome little flower that magically fit perfectly between the two larger pieces on my thigh, like it was fate! Done by the fabulous Eilo at MTL Tattoo here in Montreal. I love it. (Please pay no attention to my torch, which is still healing and majorly flaky!)

True. I am not one to grant virtual amnesty, but I will for the lack of ketchup on delicious things. If this brewery served hot wings with said unmentionables I would live there.

Montreal drivers are fairly aggressive but if you can drive aggressively you're fine. Driving in NYC scares the shit out of me.

  31. A few months prior to my 18th birthday, I began talking about how I would get a tattoo when I could legally do so. Knowing that I would get a tattoo whether they liked it or not, my parents decided to take me to a local tattoo shop a few days early to talk to the tattoo artists and schedule an appointment on my birthday so they could make sure I went somewhere they thought was safe. They even paid for the tattoo! I really appreciate my parents' openness. Although, they also didn't think that I would develop a serious interest tattoos. When I started getting more tattoos, my mom would get mad and ask when I'm going to stop while my dad would just shake his head. Now they understand that I'm not planning to stop and are accepting. I don't think it's necessarily something they like though.

  32. I just saw on Ross Sewage's blog that he's uploaded everything Ludicra ever recorded to be downloaded for free on bandcamp: Ludicra Ludicra was, in my opinion, one of the best US metal bands of recent years, and a crazy good live band. Download this because it all rules.

  33. 1.) Best LST Thread: tie between Latest Tattoo Lowdown, the monthly tattoo contests, and the Full Backpiece thread. consistently amazing. 2.) Worst LST Thread: negative ones, or ones that are 30+ pages, but of the same monotonous 15 posts repeating themselves. 2 possible solutions... PMA and reading what came first. 3.) Favorite tattoo you got this year (pls say by who and what shop): for a completed piece, it'd be the big skull/roses/razor on my arm by Ulrich Hueber, then of Bullman's Tattoo Studio in Limerick, Ireland. the eagle on my head isn't finished yet (by Josh Cruse, JP Cruse Professional Tattooing, Wichita, KS), but i love it just as much. 4.) Favorite tattoo another LSTer got this year (pls say by who and what shop if you know): everything Phickey has posted. it may sound a bit creeper-ish, but it's cool to see someone you don't know learn about tattoos from scratch and get amazing work from the start. especially as quickly as he has. 5.) Favorite tattoo artist you discovered through LST: Ron Henry Wells. i'd seen his stuff here and there on the few good tattoo blogs out there, but checking his website and Instagram after seeing him post here... man. i know of at least two spots i'm saving for him in the next few years. also, Stewart Robson. thankfully, i have a bunch of friends in London who would most likely be willing to let me couch or floor surf to save money on hotels if i need to, because i will be making my way over the ocean for some large thigh work. 6.) How'd you find LST: I can't remember if i happened upon the Tim Hendricks interview on YouTube first, or if Matt Headley of Red Sea Tattoo in Wichita, KS posted about the site on Facebook first. either way, a few things led me to check it out, learn a quick lesson when i first posted here, then slowly and respectfully post more as time went on. 7.) Favorite part of the site: General Tattoo Discussion and Tattoo Designs, Books, and Flash. 8.) Area of the site you spend most your happy time at: same answer as numbers 1 & 7, with interviews thrown in. 9.) What do you want more of: see the last answer... 10.) Sum up the year in one word: Cornerstone. everything is coming together for my life, i.e.: moving my fiancee here from Ireland, in terms of my apprenticeship, and in building a new chosen family in the city where i work, where i was born, and where i will soon call home again. BONUS: Favorite quote of the year...... another tie. "If you do not pass first grade, you do not go to second grade." -Oliver Peck, in one of the few truly great moments to come out of Ink Masters. "I like tattoos that look like tattoos." loads of people, but in this instance, Thom de Vita in his Tattoo Age episodes.

  43. I don't know how serious you are about the cover it up part, but if he's thinking about covering it up, his wrist is the wrong place to get it. He should write the script on his wrist with a magic marker and spend a few days seeing how he likes it before he gets it permanently tattooed on.

Cool thread! That first piece is killer, but her right hand and left arm looks a little bit strange to me. Maybe just the picture, or maybe just me... I don't know. The piece as a whole looks really bad-ass though! Most of you have already seen my front piece, but I found a better picture of it on Marius' blog a while back, so here's to those who haven't seen it already (sorry about the insane size of the photo)

  47. I've been thinking about this. I wonder if eating a good meal that includes a really good complex carbohydrate like brown rice and drinking water wouldn't work better. The complex carb should provide plenty of the sugar that gets burned up...coke (or any drink with a lot of caffiene) is a diuretic...so it will dyhadrate you, so I think by getting your sugar that way (through a coke) you are just potentially creating another issue (dyhyration). If you are really worried about not having enough sugar then I would eat a pice of fruit in addition to the complex carb. Candy makes me crash and makes me thirsty too. Then after you should definately replenish your sugar supply with some good beer. ;)
