  2. Here's that cover up from Aaron Coleman, it used to just be a really poorly done hourglass, and he reworked it and added a reaper.

  3. I'll try to put together a good photo with the newest additions, it's hard to take a decent looking picture of it because it wraps around my arm, though here's a picture of it from Seth's blog from when it was first finished about a year ago: Seth Wood Tattoo - - - Updated - - - I have a couple of tattoos from Ron and, yes, his tattoos are amazing...like "holy fuck, I can't believe he did that" amazing, especially with some of the negative space tattoos, and he's all around a really awesome dude to get tattooed by. I highly recommend the experience.

  11. When I get back from deployment I'm definitely going to start my torso piece. It's going to be a battle royal (i'm thinking tiger, snake, eagle). Still looking around for who I want to do it though. Steffen Johnsson had some pretty awesome animal tattoos posted on here so I might have to get him a call whenever I get back stateside.

  13. Brian's tattoos are great. I am also a big fan of Mike Rennie's tattoos. He is another guy that you don't hear about a lot, but puts out great work.

  16. I am the kind of asshole partner who, while my loving husband aquaphors my back as gently as he possibly can, moans "I can't wait until you see what this feels like for yourselfffffffffff." (He is starting a back piece next year.) Sore ribs make me mean.

Seeing jokers like that in action reminds me of the reasons I was leery of getting tattooed in the first place. I was scared of getting stuck with the kind of junk that I've seen on that show. Most of the tattoo's I see around here are shit too. It wasn't until I found this place that I was educated as to what a tattoo could be. When I tell my friends about my upcoming tattoo they ask why I would drive so far, and why is it so expensive. They tell me "my buddy can do that for a couple hundred bucks." I politely say "no, I don't think he can." One of my friends got mad at me, and I asked him if he would buy a discount parachute. He said "sure if I could save money." I don't get it.

I watched this last night. And I obviously agree with everyone. It's a traditional tattoo. They are not easy by any measure, but they are the foundation for tattooing. How these ass-hats couldn't get that right, I have no idea. There is so much information out there. Incredible resource books, flash. Hell, just looking at LST would have given some of these tattooers a better idea of how to compose a traditional eagle because, I don't know, you see work from THE VERY BEST IN THE WORLD posted here. Sigh.

  32. Iggy Vans, Idle Hand Tattoo in SF. I know of one person on LST that has something from him, but I don't here about him much. Very no frills, solid traditional work. Tattooing professionally in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1994, Iggy Vans began his career at Erno Szabady's now-legendary studio on Fillmore St., in the Lower Haight, as well as at Erno's sister shop on Front St. in Santa Cruz. He has also tattooed at Everlasting (on McAllister St.), Freddy Corbin's Tattoo 13 in Oakland, Lyle Tuttle's on Columbus Ave. & at the original Picture Machine on Geary Blvd. & 4th Ave. After all those years moving around, Iggy is very proud to be back in the Lower Haight, as a senior artist on the staff at Idle Hand, since January 2005.

Great artists are typically self assured, competant, secure and therefore = devoid of drama. For the non-tattooed viewer this show is just a Jerry Springer freak show, and tattoos are just a vehicle for the drama. We who like the art are way in the minority on this issue.

Now if only Dan Higgs would pull a Chris Conn and start tattooing again. That's something I wouldn't have a problem forking up $500/hour for. I'm allowed to dream, right?

  42. Not a lot really, i drove as i live in east london and parking all day was only £5, which is the cheapest all day parking in london i have known for a long time. Programs where free which was nice, no tattoos for me. I bought the girlfriend a new top for £20 and spent about £30 on food and drink. Didn't feel like i was being ripped off at all.

Some parts are still raw in the picture. The back of my arm is a cover up of some shitty script... The artist is Tim Morris at A Brand New Tattoo in Eau Claire, WI. I am honored to be friends with him. He is an amazing person and really solid tattooer.

  45. Hold it. Are you trying to tell me that you don't want to hear about how their faded tribal koi fish riding a unicorn the size of a dime on their shoulder blade reminds them of the frog that ran away when they were three years old????? You probably don't want to hear about their plans to get "tatted up" with a full body suit that they are planning to get done by the guy that does their brother-in-laws next door neighbor's scratching in his basement weekends when he's out of prison on work release. What kind of heartless person are you? :-)
