  11. Thought I would post a pic of my front, It seemed to be a long journey and now it is near completion it feels slightly strange, anyway as planned we will be putting a dagger through the neck and are still undecided on what will fill the space between the dagger and what is already there, also we are waiting to see if it will need anything else after it heals and final touch up session. Artist is Tristan Bentley, Ocean Ink Miranda Sydney Australia, tattoo is swollen and red will take another pic after it heals.

  13. Great time getting tattooed by Valerie yesterday. It really comes through how much she and Stewart care about what they're doing. Weird moment recognising the guy from Stewart's blog with the Saga/Reinke sleeves - those are some awesome looking tattoos (sorry if I'm being weird again and you're reading this, ha!).

  14. Just got this from Bryan Randolph at Spider Murphy's: It's based on old Milton Zeis flash (and my wife, for bonus points). Bryan's awesome, and I couldn't be happier with it.

  17. Another piece by @Nick Colella of CTC, one-day notice to get it. Far as he can figure, Tom Berg did the flash in the thirties, and it's been on the wall fo the shop for some decades... First step in filling in the rest of my left arm, and it should work. I have some very old western-style stuff like a panthers head on that arm, as well as some fairly old (1982-1984) Jap style work, so we have to kinda get a blending going on. Thought this piece did that well. There will be one more fairly major piece, and then fill. Pix aren't the best, but you get the idea....I know this isn't the most rad and popluar styling, but hey, old flash for an old guy! Background of the shop is kinda kool, too.

  21. Just got this today from Johnny Bones at Full Circle Tattoo in San Diego, CA. Edit: I'd be remiss if I didn't mention how goddamn classy Full Circle is. They accommodated a rigid schedule for me (I jumped on an airplane an hour after this) and Johnny knocked out a nice little memento under pressure. The shop itself is gorgeous and their crew were nice as can be. Johnny Bones has been guesting there for a few weeks. He works at Mi Familia in Anaheim. He's pretty killer.

  23. Spur of the moment decision when my artist posted on Instagram that he had many cancellations and was open ... Had been thinking of getting a nurse head / rose of no man's land for a while so I had him draw something up. Love her! Here she is, super fresh and a little beat up looking: By Steve Whittenburger at Rock-a-billy Tattoos in South Florida. And yeah, she already has some stubble ... Like I said, I hadn't planned on this when my day got started. lol.

  25. I just got home from our little trip to LA, and I brought a friend: I went to Bob Roberts and asked him for one of his tiger heads. He saw the spot I had open and furrowed his brow. "That's gonna be tough." He tried to sketch something on, but I could tell he was kinda flustered, so I said, "Ya know, I also really like your spiders." He lit up and said, "Now you're talkin'!" He drew it on and knocked it out in half an hour. All in all, it was a great, great experience. He and I chatted about music and, of course, tattoos. He asked to see my back, then said, "I got a snake on my back, too." He then proceeded to melt my face off by showing me his Ed Hardy backpiece, as well as his Horiyoshi III torso pieces. Coolest fucking dude ever, and I am beyond stoked on my black widow.

  26. As some of you know I visited San Francisco recently to get tattooed by Scott Sylvia, Tim Lehi and Grime. If you haven't seen it already you can check out my travelblog here: http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/blogs/iwar/232-oslo-san-francisco-travel-blog.html My Scott Sylvia piece is as good as healed now, so I thought I'd start by sharing that one. The rest will be posted here as soon as they are healed and I get decent pictures. All I have to take photos with is my iPhone, so please excuse the mediocre quality.

  32. Oh what the hell, probably crazy to enter a tattoo here given what's already posted, but whatever, I'm not here to make friends: Done by Seth Wood, Saved Tattoo. Mostly finished October 2011 so the thing is healed a year, but the illustrations in the book are fresh and were done a couple of weeks ago. Apologies for the giant pictures.

Cool thread! That first piece is killer, but her right hand and left arm looks a little bit strange to me. Maybe just the picture, or maybe just me... I don't know. The piece as a whole looks really bad-ass though! Most of you have already seen my front piece, but I found a better picture of it on Marius' blog a while back, so here's to those who haven't seen it already (sorry about the insane size of the photo)

  37. I spent my Saturday afternoon with Jeff Zuck, finishing up the black in my backpiece. It was a fantastic experience as always. Jeff is one of the nicest, raddest dudes I've had the pleasure of meeting in or out of the tattoo world. With the exception of a few spots, shading the butt wasn't as bad as I had psyched myself up for. A close friend of mine got a really awesome fox/owl totem from Jen Munford at the same time (it's up on her IG @threejenbirdmun). Needless to say, my (very pregnant) fiancee spent the afternoon being real jealous.

  42. Someone recommended that I post up my latest tattoo on this forum so here goes. I am almost done with my half sleeve from Horitomo. Although a phoenix is colorful, I'm a big fan of black/grey tattoos so that's what I went with. I was on his waiting list for 2 years before I stepped foot into State of Grace in San Jose, Ca. (I fly from Dallas and do back to back sessions). He is one of the few people I know in the U.S. that does tebori so after 28 hours this is what I have. I took this picture straight from his instagram.

  45. Some killer stuff in here! for perspective: Done by Greg Christian while he was in NYC at Wooster St Social Club I had made this appt a while ago and was really looking forward to it. Thought for sure it would get canceled after the Hurricane happened and flooded the city, leaving downtown Manhattan without power all week. Luckily, Greg made it to NYC last minute and I got this tattoo from him a day after the power came back on. It was a really cool ending to a very shitty week. Very fortunate.
