if your going down 1-35 to ROA you should think about adding Pair-O-dice to your list Richard and Jennifer stells new shop in Tulsa oklahoma. You could also stop in Norman on way to austin and I could show you some good eats.

    Lady Heads

I've flip flopped on getting a classic lady head, a bearded lady head, or just a man head with an epic beard (what can I say, I love beards). I love the soft vintage look of Tom of Finland's men, but would obviously prefer something less homoerotic. :o I'll probably end up going the safer route and getting something along these lines, I really love this Chris Conn lady: (Sorry the pic is kind of huge, but I think it's worth it :D)

To me the best lady heads (and the occasional mans head) are made by Guen Douglas:

    Introduction

Just a quick intro, 24 years old and have been interested in tattoos since my mid teens. Have been getting tattooed for about 3 years now by Jun Cha. In the process of getting a left arm sleeve, a right arm forearm sleeve and a backpiece from Jun, if anyone knows anything about him you also know that this will probably take me 10-15 years to complete. Love all tattoo styles but have a particular interest in black and grey/chicano style. Have joined the forum to discuss tattoos with like minded people, especially those who have travelled far and wide to get tattoos from artists you love. Regards Josh

    Lady Heads

Was eating at a restaurant in Greenwich a couple of years ago and saw a woman with a full sleeve of lady heads and roses. Was clearly a few years old but had aged brilliantly. More importantly she wore them fantastically, I think a lot of subject matter in tattoos can really be gender neutral, as long as it suits the wearer. A gentleman with a ladyhead will still be a gentleman, a sleezeball will still be a sleezeball.

  15. @graybones I forgot that there's another Dave Cummings! I hope you still have a job after finding the other one at work. But yeah, Dave's tattoos fucking rule and the pictures of them really do them no justice. @Diehardonvhs We'll go down to the back of my thighs. Right now, starting in July, I have monthly appointments booked until the end of 2014, but it will go into 2015 for sure. Yours looks fucking amazing from the little I've seen of it on IG. Who's doing it? @SStu We'll see. I was super into it with a snake but he showed me a drawing he'd done for a backpiece that somebody didn't get of one of those really wild Ed Hardy-style tigers and the drawing had so much power that I wonder if adding a snake to that would just confuse things. It's sometimes best to keep it simple.

A tiger, maybe fighting a snake, maybe not, from Dave Cummings at PSC Tattoo. We're scheduled to start at the end of July, maybe earlier if he has cancellations.

Getting more tattoos somehow manages to be both the cause and solution of all our problems. But yeah, I can totally see that Conn lady I posted on me someday, I'll have to brainstorm more about the other ideas and see what sticks.

  26. Thanks man, I'm getting it done by an artist called Mark Armstrong, he's obviously not a household name like some of the artists here, I mean, it's a bit intimidating when people are posting full back pieces from Rubendall, Henning, Filip Leu and Dana Helmuth!! I've known him a long time though, he's a good friend and a brilliant artist, it's coming on slowly, but I'm really happy with it so I could never complain!

    New Tattoo Design Ideas

So I called the Immaculate Tattoo place and Aaron is in Colombia at a tattoo convention which is pretty cool. He will be back next week so I can meet him and maybe make an appt. His next appt is for March, so that would give me enough time to plan more and save $$. It's not too long either I think. Feb always goes by quickly.

  33. Hey cheers for the replies! So happy to hear you guys are excited for our part of the world too :-) I should've loaded pics last night, but it was a bit late, ha! Just recently got this lady head from Emily Rose Murray Took around 4.5 hours and I'm not short! I also have a forearm half sleeve in April with Clare Hampshire, she is doing a deer head http://claritytattoo.com/ and Emily Rose will be doing a horse head on the outside of my other thigh in May. So lots of exciting stuff coming up! Just want this year to get a move on already, as much as I hate wishing my life away. 37. Not one on myself, but one I put on a good friend recently. He came home for New Year's to surprise his family, and drove three hours to surprise my fiancée before she went home to Ireland. I was the only one who knew of his plans, and thankfully he avoided all the snow issues. Inside of the knee/thigh... or the No Fun Zone.

I like it when it's done in conjunction with and contrast to normal outline in the same tattoo. I think Dusty Neil uses that technique.

  44. Nope, you're welcome to join. My opinion is that tattoos posted early in the month have a slightly better chance to win though, so you might want to wait until January if you are thinking of posting today. Good luck!

  49. Day 2 (Part 2): I have to take 2 trains to get to Osaka (Umeda) station and start making my way through the masses The masses The Roof I walking to the Hankyu line, I'm looking around and not paying to much attention to whats in front of me, I look up and just burst into laughter because of this Sure it may not seem that funny, but it was the last thing I thought I'd see and with the angle it was on, i though it was gold. another shot of the station The train to Kyoto lots of bridges The guy in the hat in the background was singing his ass off and it was dope. Sure, other people seemed to be a little put off by it but I thought it was fantastic! And he seemed happy which was the main thing. I was trying to get photos of all the hillsides and the Autumn leaves on the train ride but it was hard to get decent pics from an express train ;) I got to Kyoto and grabbed some quick lunch from Mos Burger (I love that place) and stumbled across these guys

  50. You see I think it goes in cycles..i remembered when i first got tattooed the tattooer told me kings and queens and royalty getting tattooed....(little did I know HE was tattoo royalty)and then convicts...unfashionable.....and then it became fashionable ...again....this recent..last decade maybe just a little longer is the "in fashion" times...not diffrent than elephant bells.....or hip huggers...baggy verse tight...crimefighter underwear versus boxers...well thats pushing it there.... But if you look at the recently released Ben corday and amund dietzel books...those designs were the artistic forefather of ones that later became cruder...after someone did a rubbing...then copied it...to someone else not as articulate... that arm became less graceful...or a certain line was left out Ii will try and give you an example tonite(hopefully)there is a hula girl that Corday drew that you see in so many other peoples flash..some drew it very well..others missed the mark....and you can see it mutate... In fact the center of roses...changed...and i think it was a mistake...you see ones with the classic s and y shape...well the s in the center...I see guys do them now with the 3 petals..which was a posiitive mutation..they look good..but it came from a missing line in the stencil.... I think with the explosion of artists now it is really hard to tell where people learned from...the access to all the reference that was so protected...now its easy to see what a good dragon looks like etc.....so with popularity comes what...mud...in a sense... I digress....I think the genre that was born in the last 20 years of tattoo painting is amazing.....It still does not have a name..like impressionism or surrealism...Where a hundred years ago ..tattooers paInted to have designs...now they paint to paint... In fact there was a period where(at least in my experience) a young tattooer was not allowed to paint flash...if you did the guys that brought you in that painted all the flash in their shop would ask"why are you doing that..." painting? " ...you gonna open your own shop?"...use our flash....or you wanna know how to mix colors...why??? you gonna open your own shop??? use our colors...etc.... but of course that is all diffrent now...and no i am not bitching about the state of things...because to tell ya the truth..I stay busy..so what do i care about 20,000,000 tattooers now...as long as i have work......it really does not effect me...EXCEPT NOW ITS HARDER TO GET OLD MACHINES AND FLASH BECAUSE EVERYONE IS COLLECTING...that is my only gripe now i guess.... I DIGRESS AGAIN...what i was saying was at ome point in the mid 20th century not as many tattooers had the talent artisically as at the turn of the century..... That is why some of them shined so brightly....again it comes in circles..or little circles..no I mean cycles...
